Ultimately, you know your kids best so use your better judgment.
Here's a question to help you gauge how ready they are to handle replica swords. - Do you trust their manual coordination enough to safely handle large cutlery (butcher knives, for example) in the kitchen or industrial box cutters or other edged tools in the workshop? If your answer is no, keep in mind that a sword replica will be much more cumbersome to handle and will be more likely to result in potentially injurious drops. I come from what some might consider a "blade culture," and even then, personally I'd advise against getting your kids swords at their ages, particularly if they haven't had instruction and experience in handling large edged tools. Get them some bokken or padded eskrima staves first and see how responsible they are in handling those. Be active in teaching them blade safety and only then, when you've done your due diligence as a parent in educating them and preparing them for the responsibility should you begin to consider giving them weapons (even if they're just prop replicas). |

Er...you're a parent and your asking this question? Shouldn't you already know how to make a decision like this for your own kids??

it's been my exsperiance that if you have to question it.it is your way of tell yourself it is not a good idea.don't forget that little guy in your head is there for a reason.just think about how old you are now,and now think about the way you were at their age

Get some kendo bamboo practice swords first. If nobody ends up in a coma after a few months wait a few more months. Im sure you have good kids but why risk a accident with the real deal.

I dont think you should buy the swords for your children. If anything buy them for yourself and display them where your children cant get to them. No offence to anyone and this is just my opinion,I feel its very irresponsible for any parent to buy actual weapons for children. Why would a child even need to know how to shoot a gun? Once again,my opinion but I feel parents should not force their adult hobbies or likes and dislikes on their children. Allow them to develope their own likes and dislikes.
