UPDATE 10-12-09: Received another e-mail from buyer saying that she went to the post office and was told that the item had been delivered. She says she still doesn't have the book and is really upset and for me to send her another book. I looked up the transaction again on my half.com sales page. I clicked on "Leave feedback" just to see if the options for feedback were the same on half.com as they are on ebay. I received a message saying that feedback couldn't be left because the item# couldn't be found or was invalid (something like that) or because feedback was already left. I was pretty sure I didn't leave feedback so I clicked on the buyers feedback profile and was taken to her feedback page where it says she is no longer a registered user. Which suits me just fine, because now I don't have to worry about getting hit with a negative. But I was under the impression that if you're account is suspended that you can't even log-in to send e-mails or file claims?

You will probably be protected from the refund, but she can neg you. It's possible she is telling the truth or it is possible she is trying to scam you for a free book. Half will not remove a negative feedback and even if you give her a refund she could still leave a negative. If you have a good record, I would not refund and let her take whatever action she is going to take. One neg won't be an issue for you if you have a good record.

I have a score of 734 and a feedback rating of 99.5%. I have one negative from back in the spring, but the buyer and I worked it out. Unfortunately since doing away with mutual feedback removal, the buyer couldn't remove it, but they did post a follow-up saying that the negative is null and void. So really I still have 100% even though it doesn't actually say that.
I'm at the point that I don't really do much on ebay anymore because they've changed so much in the last year. But I'm unemployed at the moment and sometimes I have to put stuff on there to make ends meet. |

Are the addresses the same? Possibly stolen. I would imagine at college apartments that happens all the time. If not to use the book, then to sell it.(Im sure most packages are the same size as books when shipped). Im pretty sure insurance covers that, not you.

Yeah, I checked, it was the same address. I kinda feel like it was stolen too. I didn't insure it though :(
Half.com is a bit different than ebay and they re-imburse you half of the average cost of shipping through media mail. Also, the money gets deposited straight to your checking account and not your paypal account. But if you're a seller you can use paypal to print the shipping label. Anyway, the buyers english is actually not up to speed in the e-mails. And she's trying to give me the ol' "I'm failing my class because I don't have the book" routine. I mean the damn thing only cost her $9.00!!! It can't be more than $20 or $30 at a campus book store (the book is almost 7 years old itself). |
