Hey ya'll since this is such a helpful bunch on here I thought I might go ahead and ask for some input.
I need to print out about 120 wedding programs which I've designed in a MS Word doc. However, the font that we used is not a standard font. I called Kinko's and they said I would need to make a .pdf of the file and bring it in that way because they can't support non-standard fonts and they will not hook up my laptop to their network (duh on both accounts). I tried creating a .PDF version of the file online but Adobe kept nixing out my font and putting it in plain jane fonts. Any other ideas??? |

Does Adobe have font add-ons? I don't know.
Sounds like it's not a standard font in Adobe and the program defaults it to something standard, in which case, there's nothing you can do. Can you print it out at a high resolution and then scan it in as a PDF?

I'm in the process of downloading OpenOffice. It's taking a while. I'll see if it works.

Install OpenOffice (you can get it here). It's a freeware alternative to MS Office and it can output .doc files directly to .PDF format. If it's too much of a hassle for you, PM me so we can exchange e-mail addresses and so you can send me the .doc file so I can do it for you.

Glad I could be of help. OpenOffice is pretty awesome. I started using it about 10 years ago when it was still a little-known freeware derivative based on the released StarOffice code and haven't gone back to MS Office since. Very versatile (and most of all, it's free). I've even used it to recover usable text from corrupted .doc files that MS Word can't open.
