The opportunity to have kids was never there, but if I had children, I would want three. Triplets, so that if anything happened to one of them, the other two would still have each other.

I am sure my wife wishes she could have taped my reaction when I got the news. We had been waiting to tell anyone because the pregnancy with my daughter was complicated. We had decided not to reveal anything until the ultrasound. My best friend happened to be in the driveway when she pulled in, and he asked where she had been. I urged her to tell him, and she handed him the ultrasound. The first inkling that my life was about to really change (beyond her just being pregnant) was when he uttered "Dude, you're having two."
I am told all of the blood rushed straight out of my head.

None and done here. Good on all of you that have gone that route, but simply put, I just don't have the discipline.

If I had kids I couldn't afford to buy myself so many toys.

Zero. Ever. I often thank the good lord above that my wife and I are on the same page about this, too.
We have three dogs and three cats. Those are kids enough for us.

That seems to be a common theme here. Guess it makes sense, the relationship between childfree budgets and toy forum enthusiast sized collections. Kids are expensive! Even just having one, I'm already stressing about college expenses.
On the downside, a buddy of mine had two sets of twins a few years apart, all girls. I do not envy being in that house when they're all old enough to have their cycles sync up. I do think twins are cool in general. |

I have twins as well--a boy and a girl. That's it for us. Parenthood has been the most enjoyable, frustrating, exhausting, and rewarding experience in my life. I realize it's not the right choice for everyone, but it was the right choice for me.
For the GI Joe connection, My son watched all of the cartoons at the beginning of the pandemic. He was about 7 at the time. It didn't really click for him. He played with my childhood Joes for a hot minute, but they didn't catch on either. He was much more interested (and still is) in all things Transformers and Star Wars. However, he loooves playing with my GI Joe Kreo collection, which i'm fine with as long as he keeps them far away from his Legos. As he got a little older, he discovered my Marauder Task Force box after we moved into our new house a couple of years ago. He also loves making his own figures with that stuff and has amassed a small army of those from my collection. |

It is pretty funny how many people on this site dedicated to collecting children's toys don't actually want any kids of their own.
