I?m tired and sad most days, and coming here doesn?t help. Not when I get attacked and picked apart for whatever I post or whether or not I buy the figures in a timely manner. And of late, people wanting to sabotage my efforts in making sure Zarana & Zandar remain, officially, twins. And I?m doing it alone for the most part.
Everyone has someone in this brand we all like more than others, me I am all about the Cobra troops, the unknown horde, growing up, I always gravitated to the bad guys, Cobra, Decepticons, Skeletor, Mutants, the Empire, why, i dont know, think it was because everyone liked Snake-eyes, or Optimus Prime, me the bad guys looked cooler and for the most part except for Iron man, i still collect the bad guys and I am 51, my financee has been very cool about my hobby. So, keep loving what you love, it makes you happy and in the end that is all that matters.

I found out after stumbling a little bit that my favorite GI Joe form factor is the new sculpt figures from 2002-2006. Also, I'm aware that they barely get some love in this community. That has not stopped me from enjoying this community - I have my preferences and I understand that others have others... In the end it is all about respect. |

I am the same. Growing up and playing up with my figures, Cobra and the Sith (I somehow managed to link both universes) were supreme. Cobra had a empire and ruled all over, and GI Joe was mostly a rebellious group trying to fight off Cobra. Behind Cobra's empire was Palpatine.
As a kid my battles typically had Cobra winning, or the Decepticons, think even today my displays typically are around Cobra

I feel this. More and more as time goes on. And, honestly, I don't think it's just because I'm getting older. I am. But I also think folks are just kinda getting....a little shittier. And it makes things not as fun, especially online.
I love The Smashing Pumpkins. Go check out the SP subreddit for an idea of how completely toxic that community is, on all fronts. Like the post-2000 stuff? Idiot. Don't like it? Untrue fan. Like Billy Corgan? How could you like that asshole? Don't like him? How dare you call yourself a fan? Things used to be so much more light hearted in that SP fandom back in the day, and I've been on-board and a part of it since 1995. Now you gotta have thick skin if you want to interact with the community. Wrestling is the same way. Batman. So on and so forth. And godalmighty Halloween has been a cesspool since Halloween Ends came out last year. At one point, the King of the Hill fandom felt fucking special. Everyone was so nice. Entire threads would consist of folks quoting episodes back and forth and musing about what thye'd like to see in the future. Now I'm in a KotH group that consists of political arguments that stem from posts on Dale Gribble's conspiracies and outright venom when it comes to certain plotlines or characters (Peggy and the Gribble/Redcorn affair, to be specific). I genuinely find it a bit jarring. When it comes to Joe, Hisstank is honestly the best group I've found. I don't make a secret about the fact that I love the goofier aspect of the franchise, and I dig the shit out of the wacky colors and whatnot. No one here has attacked me over that, and that's cool because I've primarily encountered gatekeepers and folks engaged in pereptual dick measuring contests over whose got the best collection. Hisstank is genuinely one of the few times I've been able to interact with Joe fans and not feel a little shunned. So that's real neat. But it is to a point for me where I'm almost completely checked out. I can't enjoy wrestling unless I unplug from the internet and don't let myself get bogged down in the negativity and rampant ignorance that you tend to see from fellow fans. I don't even bother with horror movies anymore cause that's gone to shit on all fronts. But one thing that is kinda funny and also completely proves that folks act real different in person is that, anytime I've been a con, a concert, I always wind up having great conversations. Maybe that's being tough behind a computer screen, or maybe that's just the fact that fans who actually go out for shit tend to be in better moods because they're engaging with things and having fun instead of sitting at home being mad.

I have to admit, the absurdity of this being an online thing kinda made me laugh

I?ll be Frank though. You act different than you do here I won?t fuck with you. That?s fake and fakes are flakes.

That stuck out to me as well. I had a buddy back in college who HATED Peggy Hill with a passion.
