I'm going to see Cypress Hill, The Pharcyde, and Souls of Mischief tomorrow night for my birthday. The next night is Mr. Bungle in the same venue.
I've never had a show I wanted to attend land on my birthday before, let alone two in the same weekend. I'm too old for this much partying. I saw Cypress Hill a few years ago and they're still great. Last time I saw The Pharcyde was 1995 and that makes me feel OLD. Seeing these groups now is the equivalent of seeing Bill Haley and his Comets and Fats Domino in 1984. What old music have you seen live lately? |

I guess the Pharcyde was passing you by until now.

Enjoy Mr. Bungle! I haven't managed to catch them live yet.
Some "Old" bands I've seen in the last few years: The Dandy Warhols, The Flaming Lips, Brian Jonestown Massacre, My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, Violent Femmes, Bikini Kill, Ani DiFranco, Offspring, Jane's Addiction, Cheap Trick, Negativland. A lot of older acts can be seen in smaller settings now, and they're usually really good. BJM was the only act from the above to disappoint, and that was entirely due to their front man drinking heavily and being difficult to deal with the entire tour. TKK and the Dandy's were both amazing in tiny club venues. |

I haven't been to a concert since I moved to the UK, almost 20 years ago, unfortunately.
A short list of what I saw throughout the 90s and early 2000s, though, includes: Metallica, Van Halen (with Hagar), Aerosmith, Scorpions, Whitesnake, Dokken, Queensryche, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Thin Lizzy, Alice Cooper, Ted Nugent, Avenged Sevenfold, Drowning Pool (with their original lead singer, before he died), Adema, Disturbed, Garbage, Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit (unfortunately... they were at the same concert as Metallica that day), Kid Rock, Velvet Revolver, Iced Earth, Evergrey, Children of Bodom, and Motley Crue.

What old music have you seen live lately? I remember getting a Cypress Hill tshirt at a headship during a hockey tournament in Hamilton ON when I was 12 years old or so (1990?). Was def too young to be wearing it or listening lol. Enjoy the show! Edit: was 91 when their first album came out. Last edited by Rooted; 05-09-2024 at 03:48 PM.. |

Guns n Roses in 2016 and they were even on time. Unbelievable show. Metallica in 2018. Unreal, smaller arena in Saskatoon.
This photo is Rogers Centre, home of the Jays. I am standing on their dugout (was not suppose to be). Behind me it looks like there are no people, it is because that area was blocked off because of home plate). Foolish me, I ended up jumping off their dugout and running to home plate and calling my shot lol. Was escorted out by security. They have Astro turf. It is pure concrete. Did a lot of damage to my heals lol. My sister passed that year, needless to say, I was on one! |

Rolling Stones and Buddy Guy next.
Ringo and his All-Stars Rod Stewart (he sounded old) Santana Robert Plant The others I have seen lately seem young by comparison by virtue of having released music in the eighties. I saw Guns ‘n Roses at Soldier Field. I am sorry to hear about your sister, Rooted. |

Maggie Mae. And, who would guess he was a footballer?! Thanks again good Sir. |

I don't know why, but the idea of Thrill Kill Kult doing a live show is amusing to me. I have to wonder how a lot of their music would work in a live performance. (I'm sure there's examples on YouTube.)
