Today, by Toyark.
https://news.toyark.com/2023/01/26/h...f-staff-492148 I think it was expected following Chris Cocks terrible handling of Hasbro, but Hasbro is laying off 15% of their staff. So now we're seeing the consequences of prices to infinite and beyond and excessive greed in Magic and whatever that DND shit was in real time. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (More Context if you have extra time on just the DND part) https://www.hisstank.com/forum/gener...up-thread.html |

The CEO wants to increase profits by 50%, less staff equals more profit sadly. Corporate greed sucks. His 50% increase in profits goal is insane and I hope it bites him in the ass bigtime enough to cost him his job.

I've been getting e-mails from Pulse literally saying "we miss you". They're clearly noticing a serious drop off in purchases from me. Their higher prices have turned me from a "pre-order like crazy guy" to a "wait for clearance guy". I have almost zero pre-orders on the books at this point, regardless of the retailer. This is nuts for me considering I generally spend insane amounts on new toys per year.

CEO dickhead wants more money.
it's going to be like this as long as he's around. lots of the same mistakes from wizards/dnd and prices going up and layoffs. |

Hearing that they're sitting on a lot of unsold Magic 30 product that nobody wants to touch. Guessing the same is true for Starting Lineup after the permanent price cuts they made earlier this week. Sad for the rank and file who are going to lose their jobs because of awful management decisions.

Seems like they didn't act on the pandemic-era card bubble fast enough, and now are getting hit.
Let's just hope that Joe is too small to be taken down too much by this one, but the fact that Magic is the CEO's thing may mean that the action figure side is the one that takes the hits even though I doubt any of these problems are on that side of the company. |

Read more on it and it seems Hasbro only had 2 divisions that were profitable in quarter 4 their Digital games section and D&D. Their D&D profits are getting wrecked by the controvery they stirred up with the new OGL. Rumors are 40,000 people left D&D beyond, Hasbro's going to have a bad Quarter 1. If I was on the board of investors I'd be finding new CEOs for Hasbro and Wotc these 2 clearly have no idea what they are doing as they have sunk Hasbros market value and profits since they took over last year when the old ceo died. .
Meanwhile Paizo, Hasbros biggest competitor in tabletop announced they sold 8 months worth of Pathfinder products in 2 weeks from the OGL fiasco. So the CEO not only cost Hasbro sales, ran off a good chunk of their playerbase, but has also driven up their biggest competitors sales lol. Last edited by sisco; 01-27-2023 at 04:39 PM.. |

Don't forget that a new recession is on the way. Prices increasing everywhere, interest rates as well and salary raises are not keeping up with this.a bubble is being created. My company that always payed raises in april/may in Europe this year said they will do it in July only. Off course no profits can lead to cuts but probably they are anticipating even worst results because 15% is a lot. Normally cuts are at max 10%
