I have it on good authority that Wal-Mart has been an IBM mainframe shop since it got computerized, and if they kept all of their systems going this long, there is probably not a SKU it has forgotten. Mainframes are like elephants, monoliths that never forget.

If you're a big enough dick, a match and full insurance coverage. Cliff em all and let the local fire dept sort it out

I tried the walk-in-store option once (2 different stores) and the price they were willing to offer was 50% of what eBay sold item prices showed at the time. That meant selling on eBay was a lot better deal but I chose shipping to an on line reseller to avoid the fees, 1099 etc.
It also depends on the collection, as I find vintage o-ring ones hold more leverage and offer higher return on the initial investment whether be transacting with a collector or a reseller. If a quick sale is preferred, I'd use eBay but if that's not an issue, then individual collectors tracking down those figures will offer more value. |

Get a table at a local toy show.

The deciding factor between eBay and a local store would be if you want to sell them all at once or if you are fine waiting months and sometimes years for some items to sell on eBay. A split model would work too, where you sell the most expensive items on eBay and any low priced stragglers that don?t sell after a certain time you can dump at the local shop.

eBay gives you good idea of how much you can expect to make.

This with a mixture of eBay. I sell the highest ticket things on eBay because there are more shoppers for it. I run as much as I can thru a local show for everything else.
Walking into a toy store is a sure fire way to get hosed and I don?t do it.

Some good advice above. A toy show/Flea market booth CAN be the best way, *IF* you can get in for a cheap rate. The large Flea market near me, won't let you in unless you sign a 3 month contract. A 3 month contract is absolutely not worth my time or money, for me. Most local Toy shops, in my experience, are an absolute scam. I would only advise selling to them if you need money in a hurry. As in, someone will break your legs if I can't come up with the cash by weeks end. Then by all means, bring your stuff in. Ebay is the best way to sell smaller items. However, if you're looking to sell several large vehicles or collector props (like a light saber, helmet, etc), then maybe in that case you actually could go the toy store route. For example, if the item is worth $120, but it'll cost $40 to ship, then maybe try and avoid eBay for that.
