When you sell toys you guys think you make more profit with direct sales (Facebook, toy shows, etc.) or something like eBay?

I never found ebay to be worth the hassle, but you can make money there. I was recently talking to my brother who's selling stuff on ebay right now. He's just getting rid of stuff, so he's not looking it as a business. Sounds like it depends on the item & can be hit or miss. Some stuff you can make a killing on & make up for the stuff you sell for a loss. The real killer are the shipping costs & ebay fees, but you get ebay's reach/exposure. I expect shipping is only gonna get more expensive too.

Is buyer fraud common? I'm talking buyers claiming item never received or damaged and trying to get to keep the item and be refunded.

Not if you take pictures and write "buyer understands item purchased is as is"
The listing is a contract that goes both ways. |

Over 20 years of selling stuff sporadically here and there, I've encountered it a couple of times. I'm not the best example, but I don't think it's too common if you're not a steady seller. I'm sure the odds of it happening increase the more you sell. I always just specify stuff like, "Sold as is.", "Not mint"., or "New, but not mint." It's still a pain in the ass because ebay always sides with the buyer thanks to their "money back guarantee."

I read and heard that doesn't work. They always side with the seller. Its bullshit. I sold a Eaglehawk that I only opened maybe twice to make sure it looked like it was complete and closed it back up. I sold it on eBay for a fairly high amount. I put in the description "As is. What you see is what you get". The guy that bought it sent a message saying he wanted a refund cause when he opened it the two engine covers where the same piece and even took pictures. I called customer service and they said have him send it then send pictures of it to eBay. I thought I was going to get screwed and the guy seemed fishy to me about it so I told him to send it back and he will get a refund but I want it back in the box where everything was. If the figure or anything was replaced or missing I would escalate it with eBay and the authorities for fraud and theft. He ended up canceling the return.

I once had someone buy a lot from me with the marvel universe x-force 3-pack and two custom x-force figures. The majority of the selling price was of course the customs. Buyer received it all, "lost" the two customs and wanted a partial refund. Naturally I said no, all-or-nothing return. We escalated and ebay sided with that douche nozzle and issued him a partial refund which would up leaving me less than retail value at the time for the 3-pack. He got two customs for dirt cheap bc he's an asshole. Couldn't just ask me, "hey, if these don't sell would you separate them?" which I would have gladly done. |

That's exactly what i did to someone who tried that with me over a 7 dollar iron man toy. "Prove it. Send it back." And they wont. |

When I browsed a seller's feedback comments, I was surprised to see sellers also leaving feedback on the seller being a good buyer.
Can you refuse to sell to a suspicious buyer and instead sell it to runner up who's a good rated buyer? |
