A few years back I'd grab the keys to that General, do a perfect hip-hugger step-step-dip into the front seat, crank that baby up and shred gravel. Fast forward a few years and I'd see there's no flag, shrug, grab the keys anyway, shred, take it home and start looking for good painters or tampo artists. Last year I'd park it. This year I'd waddle over and grab the DeLorean, thank the Gods for a gull door so I can park my aging ass, and go back to when the General was made and have them do "one more" then *stay* in that time. I might make some side trips back and forth, but the 80s is where I'd live--until one side trip goes haywire and I get eaten by a T-rex. It's better to burn out than fade away!

If I had to take one, it would be BA's van. And then I'd go live down by a river somewhere.

General Lee. I just saw one last night when I went to the theater to see The Thing 40th anniversary. They stand out even more now in a sea of Prius'.

Yep, except around here it's a sea of ugly-ass SUV things. And it's crazy to think that as far as cars from the era go, Chargers and Challengers are pretty plain. My friggin' T-Bird though...that weirdo stands out like some dicked-up white Batmobile. I hate taking it places because I always return to find grubby selfie-takers doing weird shit around it.

But yeah, SUVs suck. I sometimes see 5 different ones parked next to each other and can't tell them apart. Thank God for stuff like the Wrangler and Bronco having some individuality. |

I'd never afford or commit to the upkeep on any of them. The Delorean if it really travelled back in time, otherwise, yeah, in the sell it and buy something practical that I'll neglect. Not a car person. I like to go places, but I'm not mechanically inclined and again, never take good enough care of the ones I've had.
But I admit that. My dad liked cars, older models, but wasn't that mechanically inclined and/or too frugal to upkeep them. So yeah, that always worked out well. Last edited by Sean_C; 06-23-2022 at 10:06 PM.. |
