I know Wednesday equals hump day, but man it was an odd day.
I wake up normal about 6 am, turn on news. Right away bad news. there's an accident on the free way about 4 miles north of town and traffic is backed up all the way to my neck of the woods. As I'm bemoaning driving in traffic, the wife OH SO DELICATELY reminds me that I can telework. So I agreed that she was right and I would work my morning at home. 20 minutes to Half hour later, a couple structure fires hit the news in San Jose CA. where I work. So I make the comment out loud: 1st a bad accident, now fires: weird. "Can this day get any worse?" Someone somewhere heard the question and the news gave me an answer. Work shooting less than a mile from my work. Off I go calling, texting, emailing staff. Don't come to work. If you're at work stay in place. Gave details why. Work intranet does the same thing system wide soon after. Timing almost comical. In the end, 8 people died plus shooter. Here's the weird part; one of the structure fires was the house where the shooter lived. bomb squad got involved and the news media had to relocate a half block from the house to get out of the bomb radius. I remember as a kid all the orchards and open space in San Jose. Pretty much a mellow cow town USA feel with an inferiority complex to San Francisco. Life was slower and safer. What would possess a guy 57 years of age, with years in a government transit system to snap like this? Seems like he booby trapped his house. It's just sad and odd. I want to go back to the 70s. |

Wow man. That is a sad day for your area. Night and day from where it used to be.

Wow. That’s crazy. I am glad that you are safe. That is so sad for those who weren’t.
I am glad your wife convinced you to work from home. |

In all seriousness, you’re okay and that’s what matters. Thank your wife for making you work from home.

In all honesty, you aren’t right for posting something like this.
You take your bad day and blend it in with a mass shooting, taking it away from the victims so it’s now about you? This is exactly what’s wrong with our society and you proved that tenfold with this post. There are real victims with what happened. Their story needs told. Did you know any of them? Did you write them Christmas cards? No. You take away from their day of loss and story to make it about you Becuase you had a bad Fucking day. Sad.

Look at the world that is your answer. Everyone has their boiling point and take the wrong wiring and that boiling point and boom you got a recipe for something bad. Least your ok. Remember those that are not.

You go Spelly McGammarson. The OP didn't use a "mass shooting for his benefit". He was sharing a story and how it EFFECTED him. These are people he knows. The fact that you don't intrinsically get that speaks volumes. What a punk.
