I have been a wrestling fan for most of my life. I think about the wrestlers I have seen over the years frequently, so I decided to use this, my favorite forum, to share my thoughts.
There are many wrestling fans on the 'Tank, so that means alot of people share 2 of my greatest passions. 10- Ricky Steamboat- The Dragon has had some of the best matches in the history of wrestling. Many superstars including Ric Flair, Randy Savage, and Bret Hart list some of their greatest matches against him. He only had 1 short World title reign, but his legacy is in his in ring ability. 9- Roddy Piper- One of the best on the mic, Piper always enjoyed a big pop when he arrived on the scene. When Hot Rod talked, people listened. He was also one of the best brawlers in wrestling history. 8- Andre the Giant- The biggest attraction of the '70's and early '80's, Andre was loved by fans around the world. His name paired with that of Hulk Hogan's drew a history making crowd at Wrestlemania III. He was champion for less than a minute, but will be remembered long after many other champions are forgotten. 7- The Rock- No one can work a crowd like The Rock. He was a perfect storm of mic and wrestling skill that may never be matched. Had he not found greater success in the movie industry, I have no doubt he would have one day been the greatest of all time. 6- The Undertaker- For nearly two decades, the Dead Man has been at the top of the WWF/E. You cannot discuss Wrestlemania without mentioning the streak of the Undertaker. In the ring, few superstars possess his skill. He argueably carried the WWF through the worst of the Monday Night War. 5- Bret Hart- The excellence of execution was the greatest wrestler to come from the infamous Hart Dungeon. He was all business in the ring, and the fans, not the WWF machine, were responsable for his success: When the WWF tried to push other stars over him (Diesel, Lex Luger), the fans wanted Bret. His matches with Shawn Michaels may have indeed been the greatest of all time. He was also involved in the "Montreal Screwjob," the event that forever changed wrestling. "The Hitman" is truely one of the all-time greats! 4- Shawn Michaels- HBK, in my opinion, is the greatest in ring performer of all time. He was in the first WWE ladder match, the first Hell in a Cell, anf the first Elimination Chamber. All of todays WWE superstars got where they are by feuding with Shawn Michaels. His work with Degeneration X helped shape the Attitude Era. Without Shawn Michaels, WWE would not be what it is today. 3- Steve Austin- The biggest star of the Attitude era, Stone Cold is one of the most popular wrestlers of all time. He still gets a huge pop anytime he shows up. His feud with Vince McMahon was most likely the biggest in the hisory of wrestling. Biggest hell-raiser in wrestling history! 2- Hulk Hogan- The biggest Superstar in wrestling history-period. Cartoons, action figures, vitamins, movies... Hulk Hogan has done it all. Hulkamania was even mentioned in Congress in the '80's. In the '90's, he re-invented himself as Hollywood Hogan and became as big a villain as he ever was a hero. The nWo remains one of the bigger storylines wrestling has ever seen. 1- Ric Flair- No wrestler has been more influential than Ric Flair. Often imitated, never duplicated, the Nature Boy has been loved, hated, respected, and envied by fans and wrestlers alike for decades. Seventeen World titles. Headlined cards for 3 decades. To be the man, you have to beat the man. I don't think anyone can beat the legacy of Ric Flair. Honorable mentions- Curt Henning, Triple H, Randy Savage, Sting, Mick Foley, and the Road Warriors- It was hard to leave these guys out, but the 10 who made the list are just the best IMO. Just my humble opinion. Thanks for reading! |

You didn't last Zack Ryder so I don't care what you think.
Just joking, but that seems to be a fair list, though I would've fit HHH in there somewhere.

Triple H is good, and I know he was a top guy before, but his relationship with Stephanie taints everything he's done. He's not Greg Gagne, granted, but it's still hard to say how far he would have gotten if he wasn't Vince's son-in-law.

"The Canadian Crippler" Chris Benoit was my boy until 2007 when he killed his family and himself. God! What the hell?
Speaking of Stone Cold, anyone remember when he was "Stunning" Steve Austin? LOL! Man, that was a long time ago! |
