So I recently had an auction up for sale - the buyer offers me twice the listing price for it so I agree. Once I receive the shipment I box everything up, transfer the money from paypal to my bank account. The next morning the buyer asks me if I can cancel the deal - I said sure no problem the only issue is the money has been transferred from my paypal to my bank and in order to transfer it back it will take a couple of days.
This is all over the course of this week - I told him I apologized for the delay but can't do anything as the transfer will take two days. I messaged him this morning that the money should be in my paypal acct and I will refund it when I get home. I got home from work and found this message from him: "Alright guy... I'm pretty bullshit with your delay plus the fact that when I sell something I've got to wait 15 days before I can get the buyer's money but somehow you were able to take my money before you even mailed the item... and if the money isnt in my account by the end of the day which it probably wont be due to you waiting until my bank closed I'm going to submit a negative feedback on you... I'm sorry I feel this way but I wouldnt have requested the cancellation if I didnt need the fucking money... and quite frankly I'm beyond bullshit and I am recommending to you since your fucked with a negative feedback no matter what at this point that you continue to drag your fucking ass in giving me my fucking money back since your delay has already produced a fucking on my end..." Again I have no idea what he is talking about - I have always received paypal payments instantly - perhaps because he is new to ebay it takes more time for payments to go through? Am I in the wrong? I thought I was being nice and transparent with the guy. There's a bunch of crazies on eBay. No, you're not in the wrong here. I just bought an auction of 10 joes on eBay. One arrived broken and a second one in worse shape than was shown. I messaged the seller, no response. Messaged again, no response. After a week I left him neutral feedback. I probably should have given him negative feedback, but didn't since the overall price I paid was lower than the value to the 10 figures I received. Still pisses me off though.

Of course, I also rarely leave a positive either unless someone goes above and beyond. I'm aware that's somewhat controversial, but I don't really care, I have my reasons.

I personally avoid doing so except in the worst cases, like someone not shipping at all. I'd rather not have my "left for others" make me look like some asshole that leaves a negative for the smallest mistake, considering how many times I use the best offer function.
Of course, I also rarely leave a positive either unless someone goes above and beyond. I'm aware that's somewhat controversial, but I don't really care, I have my reasons. Yeah I try not to leave someone negative unless they REALLY deserve it. 8 out 10 figures arrived as expected. He shipped fast and it was well padded. 2 figures were worse than I expected. I purchased the lot well below market value. The description simply said "10 figures in good shape". The seller currently has zero items listed on eBay, so it's possible he never he saw my e-mails (not everyone is on eBay everyday like us volume sellers/buyers). So I decided to be nice and left neutral feedback and mentioned my issues in the comments.
