I usually just let the Ebay Unpaid assistant deal with it. That way the buyer can't do anything to put a ding on me.
If the buyer reaches out, then I may work with them. For me, it also depends on what the item is. This usually happens to me when it's an item I didn't even expect would sell and I just have it on Ebay just in case the right person comes along.

Have another issue now where I bought two items from someone on 2/7. I have heard nothing from the user - sent several messages. I keep going to try and file a report with Ebay and all I get is a message that my item is on the way. The buyer never added tracking number(s) or provided any indication/assurance that the items have indeed been shipped. The help center is complete automated shit and keeps circling me back to "my shipment is on the way and it should arrive by 2/17".

END RANT It’s funny to see sellers sing a different tune once you bring in EBay. Sellers now put it as “shipped” even if it hasn’t so you cans send a cancel request. Pathetic. Call up EBay headquarters if it’s goes past your delivery date.

You're not being unreasonable. Every time I've let my emotions get involved in a sale, it always comes back to bite me. I had one person I just let ride out to see how long it would take to pay me. Figured who cares, I had a bunch of other stuff up at the time. Two damn weeks. Seriously? How do you bid on something, knowing full and well you just spent your entire paycheck the same day? It makes no sense, amd I wish ebay would crack down on buyers.

eBay has recently changed their feedback program and allows you to reply to feedback left.

I think the stalling in payment is the buyer trying to relist the item for a bit more but not using his own money to pay for it in the first place.

Hello all, interesting thread.
Firstly, eBay allows sellers the option for 'immediate payment' - its what I do on all my listings. I only list as a Buy Now anyhow - I'd rather not run the risk of auctions. You can see this option every time you list an item - its there at the bottom. I use the eBay App, or as I like to call it, '(CR)App'. You can't get a defect if a sale is marked as 'buyer asked to cancel sale'. I am classed as extremely clinically vulnerable to Corona Virus by the UK NHS, I'm 'one of the 2.3million' (Google that) so I am shielding. This means I don't go to the Post Office even, precluding no international sales whatsoever sadly. Oddly, I've had two US eBayers somehow buy custom Palitoy Action Force figures I am selling. Maybe I missed editing a couple of my listings to only be available to UK buyers - however, these guys paid immediately - there is no way the buyer cannot simply click buy now and delay payment. As I said earlier, I had to cancel the sales and refund them both in full - with Buyer asked to cancel. Ergo, no defect. My comms with both buyers in the States were exemplary. I even left them positive feedback - they kindly left the same. So, 'Buyer to pay immediately' should weedle out any time wasters and ensure you get paid instantly. I also wanted to discuss eBay in general - there are a lot of mentally imbalanced buyers and sellers out there. My Girlfriend always makes this comment after I regale her with my horror stories of my experiences. For example, when I buy or sell, I've politely reminded the buyer to leave feedback. I end up getting blocked by the other party - literally for simply and politely reminding them to leave feedback. Sometimes, I've left feedback first, and then from time to time, politely remind them to do similar - only to get blocked - this especially happens with sellers - especially BRITISH sellers. They are an incredibly spiteful breed. I once sold a guy some small Star Wars Clone Trooper accessories for around £2.38p. He ended up saying and I quote: "NO. YOU LEAVE FEEDBACK FIRST OR NOT AT ALL. I NEVER LEAVE FEEDBACK FIRST. OR STOP PESTERING ME. THANK YOU". I actually replied to that very politely and did indeed leave him exemplary feedback, to which he then retorted: "Just because you stay at a hotel and receive 5 star service doesn't mean you go onto Yell.com and leave a positive review'. All that spite over what? £2.38p and being provided excellent customer service? Its happened to me time and again. My Girlfriend quips that 'feedback is the breakfast of champions'. Well, these psychos clearly are NOT champions of any sort. What really disgusts me, is when you buy an item, or have bought multiple items as a repeat customer with a particular seller only to end up being blocked - it smacks of ingratitude. Just recently, I even had to lodge an official report to the Police about a particular seller - but that's a story to be told in private. For all I know that seller may well be lurking on HissTank...and I'd rather avoid him like the plague. Its such a simple matter, someone buys from you, you give them excellent service and all they have to do is literally click positive and say something like 'THANK YOU'....alas, that is certainly not the case with the English...they are riven with utter spite simply for daring to politely remind them to leave reciprocal feedback. The mind boggles. I wonder if its the Pandemic that's addled their braincell or as my other half often quips - they are psychopaths. I tend to think it's the latter. Saying all that, I have had some extremely amiable experiences with sellers on eBay too....people with common sense that is. One example is a UK seller had a vintage Lego Technic set that wasn't selling, he relisted it a second time, and it didn't sell. So, I contacted him and asked if he still had it. He said yes. I offered to buy it, for £23 BUT that I could only pay in 2 weeks time. He could have said no, but he actually said he'd not relist it but send me a PayPal invoice around the time and I could pay him that way - which of course I did bang on the day I promised to buy it. I tried the same tack with another Vintage Technic Lego seller - he threw a strop claiming 'it was too much hassle' to simply list it on the day I said I could buy it - I even wanted to buy another unsold set - so the total would have been over £90 for two sets...He had said he only lists items when he gets eBay's £1 final value fees offer....he could have easily relisted it as a 'buy it now especially for SF1378' and that would have been that...alas, no. So, one example of someone using their common sense, another being a moron. In any case, the moron had been making quite a lot of money on sold Technic sets so why it was so problematic, it was beyond me....also, he was one of those types who refused to respond to me once he'd made his mind up - initially he was all sweetness and light....yes, the English are extremely spiteful. I'm not English btw. So, all in all, those are my experiences. I will say this, when I promise to pay someone I pay on the day I specify.

sf1378 those are all great notes.
Another question for everyone. How do you handle people that message asking for a buy it now price on an auction or send lowball offers thru messages? I’m just curious on what y’all do and if you’re as brutal as I am.

I get that often, even when I price high end collectibles for very fair prices. Usually their offer is a little higher than the Auction opening price , so I just let them know that they are welcome to bid on the item and they might even get it for less than their offer and make up some story about having received better offers anyway. Note, none of them ever bid.
