...sure, we've got the shit pandemic, a resulting economic, employment and housing crisis, wildfires burning out of control, the ever present threat of war and Cobra Island Troopers are a shitshow to find, but I'd like to balance out the bitching with a bit of positivity, because that's how I roll.
From my own perspective, I'm financially more secure than I've been since the '08 crash (and that's coming from the near homelessness perspective that 2019 gave me. Fuck 2019), I've reconnected with certain people that I thought I'd never seen again, and my Joe collection is probably the best it's ever been. I also love my job for a change. I almost feel as though I'm dancing on the grave of the world. There's enough negativity in the world folks, especially this year. Lets use this thread to maybe bury our heads in the sand for a few and focus on the good shit! Say something nice!

Things were at a low from March-June, but they've really picked up since.

Yeah I hear you man. This has actually been the best year, financially, that my wife and I have ever had. My hours got cut a little, but I had a raise put through the system a couple weeks before the pandemic started. I got to spend alot of extra time with my kid. AND, this pandemic has kept my many many in-laws away. Also, yes, my collection is as strong as it's ever been, and so are my eBay sales. Plus, the extra time off hady allowed me to complete many house hold projects. I almost feel guilty about how well things have gone for us overall. I mean, I can always complain about shit, as y'all have witnessed over the years, but overall, I'm good.

Sbartek, I am very sorry to hear about your loss. That sucks.
This year has had its share of downs, to be sure, but I like the idea of focusing on the positives as well. Cutting a two hour commute out of my life has saved me tons of time, money, and wear and tear on my car. I like sleeping in and being in my house as soon as I am done for the day. A lot of classroom behavior things that I normally do are gone now because I can’t see my students. It remains to be seen what effect this has on their grades, but at least they are impacting only themselves and not the students aren’t them (and me). I am a pretty anti-social person, so not seeing people has been okay for me. I miss my friends, of course, and look forward to getting together when this is all over. However, I am not impacted like I know a lot of people are. When I went to college, my stated goal was to write comic books. In a few hours, the first three comic books I wrote should show up at my doorstep. I missed out on going to JoeFest to see them being released, but with my wife’s neck surgery, I maybe would have had to do that regardless of the pandemic. I wish a lot of things were different this year, especially for my kids, but like some of you, I am trying to focus on the positives. |

Thank you bro! And yes on the positive side I would have to say so far this year I've made more money than I have in the previous years. My wife and I's 23 year marriage has strengthened and we are spending a lot more time together. I have been able to take her to places this year that she is never been before. That's exciting to see the look in her eyes when she is going to these places.

Definitely some negatives for our family, but not to Sbarty’s level, thankfully...
Positives: No cuts for my banker wife. On the contrary, her bank is flourishing, and she is NOW able to work from home through APR, and potentially forever. I love her AND having her home, so it’s a plus. Coffee every morning with my wife. Virtual school is not best for elementary kids, but I am proud of how I am taking care of them socially/emotionally; I feel I have provided a great start to the school year, despite limitations. Selfishly, I love working from home...never thinking that could be a possibility. Saving gas, wear/tear on vehicles. Was able to make it to Joefest. 7 days out, seemingly no COVID... I will likely face cuts come OCT, but they should be minimal. My Joe collection is thriving. My son was able to attend university on campus; hoping it stays that way (doubtful, but glad he is getting a taste for it!). Moved to a small (but all-sport) lake in NOV, and no place could’ve been better in quarantine! NASCAR/NHL/NFL is back on tv. Above all else, my Lord & Savior Jesus Christ has me in the palm of His hand; this world’s impact on me, negatively or positively, matters not in the meta-narrative.
