Alright got another boredom question. I got this job. Its a entry level position but I took it. I have almost 20 years on the other guy who has maybe only a year of experience but thinks he has 50. My boss has maybe 6 but has no idea what she is doing. The newest person is cool and has sort of the same background as I do but I dont think she cares for it as well and could leave any day. I only stay because I need it to look good on my resume and wanted to try staying at least a year which it will be on october. I left my last job two weeks in because of logistics and bad timing. Two jobs before that was 2 years each. I have a tendency to think about a job in the way like "I could change the place" or "Maybe it will be different". I knew this place sucked before I started and so do others but I needed it. Im only part time and at this point only holding on by the insurance thread if you know what I mean. Im barely holding on and if something happens honestly I feel like I might just walk out. They hired and been told this for my experience but they dont listen or do the exact opposite. I change something they agree about it but if I go away for a week they go right back on it. They are clueless. Thoughts about what others would do?

Be open minded about the possibilities within this employer, or that will be outside of it that this can lead to.
This sounds like a management problem with bosses that don’t know how to run a business. It’s difficult to change anything if leadership isn’t going to take the steps needed. It sounds like you might be with an organization that is stuck in the modern corporate groupthink, refusing to take necessary risk or strides to make their operation better (eehhhhh.... Hasbro?????). This could be a springboard position that pays bills now and then pays off later when your boss washes out—if the people above her are the business better. There is a book “Good to Great” by Jim Collins that you should read and would like. It details what is needed to make an organization survive and thrive, or how it will die with complacency or repeating the same mistakes. You will read about the kind of company or business that your “tix it and gear it up” ability fits best, or at least the kind of business culture you want to be around.

I’m a union tradesman and have never understood the rest of the world nor how it works. My wife has told some stories about her firm that almost made me Russell Crow a lawyer or two. Let’s just say I was told to not come to the Christmas party. So I can not offer you advice on your situation. But what I can advise you is, that if you do decide to pull that trigger, I’d show up to work in flip flops, board shorts, and a Jim Morrison arrest photo Tee shirt and pull an office space.

As always, I have a contradictory position to those above- I say fuck it, your piece of mind is worth more than a check, especially if you're reasonably confident you can make ends meet another way. The moment I realize that I'm not happy, and that the reasons for that unhappiness will not change, both in employment and personal relationships, I walk away, and if it's bad enough, I torch the bridge on my way out... and I have zero regrets.

Frankly, no workplace in the world is devoid of these issues and if you’re a part time subordinate, the best thing you can do for your sanity is to just do your job as asked. If you can’t bear that, then maybe you ought to quit. But I agree that it is never a good idea to quit one job before you have another.

Whether or not you have kids or any other dependents is a big factor. If you don't have kids and you have enough money to float by, then maybe. This is a bad year to quit a job without a new job lined up.

A few years ago, I lost my job of 15 years because an incompetent boss took over and didn't like me. I was on the verge of quitting because I hated the changes she was making anyway and she had no idea what she was doing and never should've hired for the job. I lasted a month after she took over, to the point of dreading every day. So I lean toward Sataninjaku's thinking. If you absolutely cannot stand going to work every day, it's probably time to walk way. If you can soldier through it until you get a new job, I suppose that's preferable, at least for money and resume reasons.

Shadow there are great points from all these dudes. The time to look for another job is while you have a job, especially now, but if it’s not going to get better, life’s too short to stay somewhere that you might be miserable if it won’t get better and if the grass is greener somewhere else.

Shadow did you have an epiphany or decide one way or the other?
