I have been aggravated with Hasbro since the end of PoC, the direction of the company in focusing on licencing and producing disposable nick-nacks rather then making something of quality and then complaining how no one wants to buy them seems like a business plan to fail.
Star Wars seemed to be the exception; the fan base was big enough to justify the apparent cost of making some rather nice vehicle playsets. So when episode VII and Rogue One came out and they had a shot at introducing some iconic vehicles for the movie, especially the hero vehicle, the U-Wing. But if anyone has seen the actual toy it's a pretty sad thing; incredibly small, only holds 2 figures and has a Nerf gun built into it. To top off the list it's release price was around $50 USD which I thought was insulting for what you got. It seems like it's up to the fans to make the toys that the toy companies are unwilling to make. I ran across this thread where not only did someone make a (closer) to scale U-Wing for his figures but provided the template for others to make it themselves for free. https://makezine.com/2017/09/01/force-friday-fun-build-a-cardboard-u-wing-from-rogue-one/ The download files include templates, pictorial directions, extras like the Death Star plans on hard drive accessory for figures and how to cannibalize and install the sound card from the Revell model kit. Even though he made his on the cheap out of cardboard and found items there's nothing stopping people from switching materials with something more durable. Maybe this could inspire a community for Joe vehicles?
