Back in the 80s, my dad used to work for the real life couple that show is spoofing. And then worked for him a second time when they got out of jail.

It's a crazy coincidence that my dad worked for him, eventually quit, and then both He AND my dad did some prison time (2 different white collar crimes, 2 different minimum security prisons), and then my dad ended up working for him for a bit a second time after they were both out. First time around my dad was a chef in his restaurant,
second time around as a telemarketer. I'm told I took a ride in Jim Baker's convertible back when I was just a toddler (and no, that isn't code for anything weird, lol).
