You all might remember my shock and awe at the way all my Ross stores (and stores in general) were getting cleaned out back in December. Well, I figured out what the hell was going on. All the free hurricane food stamp money hit 2 weeks before Christmas. This is completely different from regular food stamps. This is for people who make a little over the normal food stamp threshold, who suffered a loss during the hurricane. It was about $900 worth, roughly, depending on family size. It's also very easy to get, and I don't think they really verify anything. So it's kind of a big scam. I personally know folks who received money and shouldn't have

So, yeah, thousands of people with an extra $900 in their pockets right before Christmas? It's all making sense now.

BTW, my stores are all pretty empty once again. It's back to being Beach's territory, as it should be.

Ross is about to go through a big clearance. Like things for penny on the dollar for new 2025 stuff.
