It also coincides with the end of the lease on my rental property. The tenants, after stiffing me on March's rent, left the place kind of trashed. Shit I don't even understand- didn't change the air filters the whole time they were there, never changed any lightbulbs, broke all my toilet seats.

I know to them it's just a rental, but damn, you still live there. Anyway, I've got to straighten that out and get it sold, which will take all month, so it's going to be 2 straight months where the mortgage is coming out of my pocket (on top of the mortgage for the house I actually live in).

Damn that sucks bro, some people are just scum. We have been thinking about moving and renting out our house but I just can't imagine the hassle. We have a big house near TCU so I'm sure it would be college kids that rented it. I can't imagine dealing with that.

It's really hit and miss, I guess. My dad rented his mother's house to some college kids who were there about 3 years. They left it in great shape and had very little issues.

After they moved out, he rented it to a family that complained about everything, demanded repairs for things they had broken, and then skipped out after about 6 months to avoid eviction.

You just never know, man. I hired an agency to vet tenants for me, and the first tenants I had were pretty good. Left the house dirty but not damaged. Then my luck ran out.

Yeah dude this is my life lol. Between my personal rentals and the ones I take care of for work it blows my mind how shitty people will actually live. Luckily I have mostly friends and family in my apartment house now because I just dumped a huge chunk of change into renovation after the last tenants I evicted completely destroyed thier place. It looked like they hadn't cleaned thier toilet in the 1yr they were living there. Between that, stealing all the appliances in the middle of the night and screwing me out of 2months rent. I was ready to choke them out while in court. They had the nerve to leave huge amounts of trash in the apartment and then tried to tell the judge that they accidently left valuables in the place and I neglected to store them. Luckily I had pictures of everything. Bunch of savages!!!

It's crazy. But that's just how some people live their lives, I guess. The market's been perking up around here, so hopefully I'll be out of the landlord business soon.
