Life is something else guys, you know?
A friend of mine lost their great grandmother today. She was 100 years old! Lived a healthy life until she reached 96 years old then started getting sick. Lived an additional 4 years till today. Wow! What a full life! Then I get another phone call. My coworker, 38 years old, started having lower back pain, losing weight, running a fever, goes to the doctor, Stage 4 pancreatic cancer and it's already spread to his liver. Has been told he only has months to live. Doctors can't do anything but to give him medication to help improve his quality of life until his day comes. You never know. |

My parents used to tell me, ALL THE DAMN TIME, growing up, "life's not fair". I frickin hated when they would say that, but, that's some true stuff. I think hearing that when you are young can help prepare you for the inevitable frustrations and/or heartbreak that come later in life. Now we tell kids "Each and everyone of you are special and terrific" , "you can all be ANYTHING you want to be". Trophies for everyone!! Then they end up shocked and unable to comprehend later in life when things don't just "fall into place", or when their future employer doesn't think they're so special or terrific. I dunno, just thinking out loud here. I had a co-worker diagnosed and eventually die of stage 4 cancer in her early 40's. (They promoted me into her position, while she was still in treatment, super awkward situation to be in). I was in my 20's at the time, so I didn't have an appreciation for just how young early 40's is, when it comes to death. Now that I'm nearing 40 myself, um, yeah, that's way to early to have passed. A tragedy.

Doesn't seem fair, does it?

Don't worry Duke, when you get to New Hampshire the LNC will unexpectedly and uninvitedly show up outside your door at 3 AM on a work night and surprise you with a graduation ceremony. Then you can call in sick and we can spend the day eating tacos and cheese and talking about Joes.

It should be retitled the sidekick brand misinformation thread. Where is Lima bean? He would help shut it down.

I think it’s a case of a passionate anti-hasbro fan vs passionate Joe fans and I think everyone is a bit misunderstood. I may be wrong. I may be right. I may just be real damn hungry for those Duke Tacos. Dukie-Tacos made with fresh Rib Mountain ice fish. Can’t beat em.
