Another rainy day here in Florida. I mowed the front lawn super quick just as the storm was rolling in. It's the best time to mow in Florida, with those cool storm breezes..... Assuming you don't get got by lightning.
Hey Itch! My power Droid arrived today. The card is so nice I hate to open it.

Rain here would be nice. Cooled off to 95 degrees today with no breeze. Since we live in it we went to a park at 8:00 where my older son does training to prep for football, then grocery stores, then in laws house to clean it and yard work then had pest control come for bugs.
Then Itch and Beach my power droid and Wolffe box came. Power droid does look good.

So here is my exhausting, embarrassing story from this past weekend.
As you all know my Central AC has been limping along, keeping the house cool at night, but the house hits the mid 80s from about 1-8 pm. Instead of bringing in a repair company, I'm waiting on a friend to take a look at it (I have serious trust issues when it comes to repair companies, lol). Well he keeps postponing when he can come look at it, so I decided to buy a second window unit to hold us over. Friday afternoon I found a GE 12,000 BTU unit for only $400 at a Home depot not too far away. Perfect! So I bought it online, p/u in store. Called them Friday evening, asked if I could come p/u same day. They took my info, said they'd call me back in a few minutes once they confirmed they actually have it. 30 minutes later, no call back. I call them, get bounced around from employee to employee AND .....sold out! Shit. So they refund me. I find another location with 2 of the same unit in stock a little farther away. Call to confirm......no answer! So I say F it, take a chance and drive there. I don't see it there, so I go to the help desk, and......system glitch, they don't have it!! So now I'm starting to get Target/Cobra Island Deja-vu. However, as luck would have it, Home Depot is in the processes of clearance-ing out their AC stock, and I find a 18,000 BTU unit for $459. What a great deal.... Sooooo, apparently installing a large window unit AC is a bunch more work than installing a small window unit. With a small unit, it only takes about 30-40 minutes to open the box, attach the support bar, add the 'wings', get it all set up and going. With a large unit, you have to remove the filter cover and filter, unscrew and remove the front plate, detach the control panel, remove the 'ground screw', and slide the entire thing out of the metal casing. Then you install the metal case in the window, which needs more support because the unit weighs 100+ pounds. After the case is installed, you slide in the actual AC unit, and you then have to re-attach everything you took apart. All this might only take an experienced tech an hour, but for my first time doing it, in an 85 degree house and 100 degrees outside? It took like 3 hours. But I got it done, and was feeling super accomplished....and then the embarrassing part. I go to plug it in, and it's a 230 volt plug!! This wasn't mentioned to me when the employee helped me find it, but, it's my fault for not checking. I felt so damn dumb. So, at this point, I have to take it all apart again, and then reassemble it again, and then package it all back up....inside my 85 degree house (100 degrees outside). It sucked so bad. At least I was getting quicker at it the second time. To Home Depot's credit they accepted the return no problem. (That's two $400+ charges awaiting refunds to my credit card, for those keeping track at home). After all that, I just decided to buy a smaller unit. Exhausted, I bought a mid size 8,000 BTU unit for cheaper. Easy install, and the thing is a nice lil trooper. So far it has been a huge help getting us through these hot ass afternoons.

Ha, should’ve, right? I even talked to him about an extra Marshall hat I hoped he had, and purchased a John Snow GoT figure from him for my wife.
