fav joe is gung ho.....i live near new orleans. it seems the world thinks that all of this area is gumbo and alligators. perpetuation of the myth occurs when anything with a long "o" sound is spelled with the "eaux". as in geaux tigers for the LSU tiger teams.
so in keeping with the myth that i own a gator instead of a dog...i figured that gung.heaux was appropriate. i do assure you though, i own a dog, live in a house made of real building materials, and drive a car...not a pirogue. |

Believe it or not... I've never told anyone this story.
Back in the day, when I was a in 8th grade, I was big into the "shiney suit" rap music... P Diddy, Ma$e, Jurmaine Dupri... I ate it all up. Anyhow, Jurmaine Dupri had an album called Life in 1472". I was reading The Source interview with JD and thy asked him how he came up with the title. "J" is the 10th letter of the alphabet, and "D" is the 4th. Added together makes 14. and he was born in '72, so hence, 1472. Being in middle school, I thought "That's the coolest thing EVER!!!", and it became my screen name in like 1998. Yep, I'm a big-time nerd. But it's been a decade... can't bring myself to change it now.

You know at the end of Kingpin when Munson and Big Ern McCracken are having their final show down? Well Big Ern's falling to pieces and his hair is all over the place.
After a long night of drinking I wake up looking like that, someone called me Big Ern one day and it stuck. |

At one point in my career, my brother and I worked on the same ambulance together (we're both paramedics) and he started calling us "The Pros from Dover" which is what Hawkeye and Trapper John called themselves at one point in movie MASH.
Hence, Hawkeye |

I've run a couple of web sites in the past, both of which started out as fun hobbies, but eventually began to require more time and effort than I was willing to devote. I ended up selling both of them, swearing off the idea of ever having my own site again.
Well, I work in the entertainment industry, but I work on the internet side of it. Much of what I do involves writing and editing others' work, but web development and graphic design are a good chunk of it, as well. In the first position I held with my current employer (I have since moved into a different department), I was responsible for the creation and maintenance of over 200 web sites. Because of what I do, people often asked me about "my" web site, and they were usually surprised that I didn't have one. After a while, I realized that it would only make sense if I did have my own site, but I wanted to avoid what had happened with my previous two. I decided the only way to do that was to create a site about myself, rather than some topic. I then had to think of a domain name that described me, but would also be something that I could "brand" (personally, not commercially) online. It didn't take long to come up with compulsivecollector.com, and I adopted the term as my screen name at that point. |

Mine is pretty simple, bvance74 = Bob Vance born 1974. July 4th to be exact. So it works out either way 7/4/74
