Are all you haters disappointed that he's not in his lavender skin suit with the big lime green ponytail popping out the top? "cause I can assure you that would look way lamer in real life then this picture ever could. Give it a shot-- it's one photo, out of context.

I like it. Its much better than the comic. Also, this is like whiplash's "Mark 1". Costume. It'll get better as the movie progresses.

I'm still betting that Whiplash ends up as a combination of Whiplash and Crimson Dynamo by the end. Besides, Rourke/Whiplash is just the "heavy." Justin Hammer is the "real" villain of the piece, from what I've read. He's just not the type of villain that confronts Tony directly.
It would have been too much for one sequel/movie, but it would've been cool to see Justin Hammer outfitting a whole gang of villains like he used to do in the comics. Anyway, yeah, I'm betting this is the "Mark 1 Whiplash." We'll get a "Mark II" or "Mark III" by the end. |

John Favreau is a true Iron Man fan. I have a feeling he will do this one justice, just as he did the first. The first Iron Man was one of the best comic book movies we have had. That photo is obviously of an unfinished costume/armor. I have every faith it will turn out okay.

Actually, the did a fair bit of "fundamentally altering" Obadiah Stane for the first Iron Man movie.
Doing the same with Whiplash/Possibly Crimson Dynamo shouldn't be all that surprising. "Crimson Dynamo" would get giggles out of most crowds these days (the name, not necessarily the suit), and Whiplash has a more interesting visual gimmick. However, in the comics Whiplash (Marc Scarlotti) has pretty much always been a pathetic, lame-ass sad sack of a character and hardly one of Iron Man's most iconic villains. In that case, "beefing up" the character by making changes isn't entirely unwelcome. Besides, Marc Scarlotti is currently quite dead in the comics, so maybe they're setting up this new character to appear there as the "new" Whiplash. Besides, Dynamo was Anton Vanko, not Ivan...maybe there's a brother involved somewhere. Last edited by Jmacq1; 06-10-2009 at 09:10 AM.. |

I'll most definitely go watch IM2... but the selection of Whiplash from IM rogues gallery was to me an odd choice. I mean seriously, the villain uses whips! If someone snuck in an IM chest cell in your prison cake (just going along the theory of the prison jumpsuit ), you'd attach that bada$$ to.... whips?
I hope they eventually do use the Mandarin as a bad ass Chinese business man who destroys the US economy by smuggling out toy prototypes and putting them out on online auction sites... |
