Social Security is the same basic principal though, and the contributions from later generations are not covering past generations.
I dont know what the answer is, but any "federally mandated" program that you are forced to join does not seem like something I want to see put in place.

I have a question, how do we pay the medical workers? I mean in a socialized medical system, how do we determine what a medical worker makes?

I'm not advocating bigger government here; I'm advocated better government. Something isn't necessarily better because it's private or public or whatever, but under the current system in which insurance companies make millions and millions in profit on healthcare is downright sinister. |

Seriously, I do not go to the hospital unless I need to. In fact, for proof, last week my chest started hurting, my wife said go to the ER, I said no, it's just gas. this went on for an hour. Finally I said let's go. They treated me like it was an heart attack as I showed all the signs. Turns out my gall bladder was a few minutes away from emergency removal status. I go to get it removed next week. I am on medicare for disability, but my deductible is $500 which I have to pay for all of this. The point is, there are too many people who will take advantage of free health care that will hurt those who will need it as those people will have to wait to see a doctor that is wasting his time for a fever and then the emergency cases die. It happens all the time in the countries with free healthcare. |

Yes but there's a simple solution to this so-called crisis that doesn't get much or any discussion in the mainstream media: raise the cap.

There wouldn't be complete socialization. It would be a mix of private and public services. It's a way to introduce competition to private healthcare providers. Doctors and specialists would still negotiate for services much the same way they negotiate now.

[QUOTE=Ewokhunter92;783771]the Gov't decides that and then it's across the board. Do you REALLY think that RN that makes $35+ an hour now is going to go along with taking a huge pay cut just so everybody can get insurance to go to the hospital when they get a fever?
Ok so let me see if I got this correct. The Gov. says we will pay only 35 and hour for an RN and 45 for a BSN and 60 for a Dr and that is all we are paying. Is that what you are saying?

Great dialogue every one. I’m very happy it didn’t get ugly for the most part. However I think in the words of a big hero of mine
“A fanatic is one who can't change his mind and won't change the subject. “ Winston Churchill And say good night leaving you with a few more word of wisdom from him. “Some people regard private enterprise as a predatory tiger to be shot. Others look on it as a cow they can milk. Not enough people see it as a healthy horse, pulling a sturdy wagon. “ Winston Churchill “If you're not a liberal when you're 25, you have no heart. If you're not a conservative by the time you're 35, you have no brain.” François Guizot Falsely Attributed to Winston Churchill "The Americans will always do the right thing... After they've exhausted all the alternatives." - Winston Churchill
