My rough guess would be any where between $150 and $400. A pretty wide range the price varies a lot from brand to brand and place to place. I was looking into getting a 3 inch lift (but didn't, no moneys) and I was gonna pay $199 for it off some website.

Thanks for all the input.
Now, another question. I've come across an item on ebay, a "chip" that is supposed to add horsepower and increase your fuel efficiency. I'm a little cynical, so I'm not sure I believe it, but do any of you have any experience with these "performance chips"?

BTW, If your planning on hauling big loads like boats and stuff, lift the back slightly more than the front or else you will be looking straight up while driving.

I had a f250 with 10' lift and 38 swampers with all the other off road mods I did to her it totaled out to just under 10 grand. I got rid of her cause it was costing me 100 to 200 hundred a week in gas. Lift alone cost me 2500 and some change.

Why bother?
If I remember correctly from my days at the dealership, chips and lift kits void factory warranty and many aftermarket warranties.

1) Is it possible to do this to the Ford Escape?
Yes, but I don't recommend it - use either a full size truck (F150 if you HAVE to have a Ford :( ) or a more "traditional" truck - it is going to be a LOT easier and a ** LOT ** CHEAPER to do this w/ something more commonly lifted. I'm sure SOMEONE makes a kit to do an Escape lift, but I'll bet it's big bucks and a pain in the arse to install too. :( Get a regular truck or jeep - easier to do so w/ on MANY different levels. 2) How high will it make it go? Up to you, just remember it's like having a fast car - Q. How fast do you want to go? - A. How much you want to spend? How high you want to lift it? How much $$ you got? I'd say 2" is ususally the norm, 3" being a little high for most, and 1" really is NOT going to make a difference. Again, get a DIFFERENT truck to do this w/, you will NOT be sorry and save a ton of $$. 3) Will I have to get different tires? That's usually the point of a lift kit. Yes, more than likely, otherwise you'll windup w/ a tall truck on little tires - it'll look like the truck is on stilts. Like this - http://www.socaltrucks.com/forsale/i...eremy_man1.jpg - too little tire, too much lift, the truck NEEDS BIGGER and TALLER tires to make it all proportionate. 4) Will it screw with my speedometer? Yep, it will NEED to be recalibrated - taller tires spin at a different rate b/c it takes them longer to make a full rotation than shorter ones. Now again we are talking BIG tires here compared to little ones - simply moving up ONE tire size or so should NOT effect this. NOTE - Also be aware w/ new vehicles (like your Escape) it will proabbly screw up the ABS and traction control (if equipped) as each wheel position has a speed sensor in it that feeds the computer system for the ABS to calibrate it's self. 5) Will it screw with my gas mileage? Yep, again, see above about TALLER tires taking longer / more distance to rotate (not to mention more rolling resistance b/c of the larger surface area of the larger tire and it's foot print too. No BS, I have a degree in automotive technology from GM, I KNOW what I am talking about (not to toot my own horn). HTH

" That too - some manufactures are getting real tight on this now and flagging VIN numbers of vehicles that come in for service and have been modified so if that vehicle EVER shows up there or at another dealer they KNOW it has been modified (even if returned to stock form) and the entire warranty is VOIDED. Not a good thing to do w/ new $20-30K or more vehicle :( I work at a Chevy store and we do this to a-holes who modify their Vettes ALL the time b/c they put crap in them, blow them up and then try to get it warrantied - sorry about your luck pal! We didn't put that crap in the car, so it's not our fault YOUR junk aftermarket stuff made OUR car.

id have to disagree a little with that statement... todays engines are basically run like a computer and there is default settings that regulate air, fuel, etc... however i would never buy one off the internet, you would want to go to a real specialty mechanic that deals with those kinds of mods... diesels engines use chips like that to get the real power out of them because the goverment puts restrictions on them for e.p.a. BS and yes they do work very well
