Well in all my deals it has never happened before, but today I received 2 figures. One is on card and I will open it so it should be O.K. The other is loose and WOW, it smells worse then an ash tray. Can someone please point me the way to the nearest how to get the smoke smell out thread? Thanks!

I actually got a couple of loose figures recently with the same problem. (Maybe from the same guy; I won't name names, though. ;) ) The suggestion I got was to put the figures into a sealed container with a box of baking soda, since baking soda absorbs odors. I haven't tried it yet, but it sounds legit.

Some people swear by vac chambers, others kitty litter or baking soda. Whatever you do, I'd start with a warm, soapy washing of the figure/accessories to get the tar off of the figure in the first place.

I've tried many different methods, and I don't think there is one that works well all the time. The only thing I've found that always works is leaving something out in fresh air for a LONG time. I had some figures that smelt awful from cig smoke. I tried several methods and nothing really worked. Then I just left them in my toy room in an open tray for over a year. The more time that elapsed, the better they smelled. I've done that with smelly stuff, and eventually it works, if you have the time.

Well opened the carded figure and it even smells, to a much lesser extant though.

Since I forgot to pick up baking soda during my shopping today, but I have a bag of kitty litter lying about (originally for de-humidifcation purposes, but I've since bought a proper dehumidifier) I'm going to try the kitty litter method for mine. I gave my afflicted figures a bath as Zap recommended, towel-dried them, then sealed them in plastic baggies buried in kitty litter. I'll give 'em a few days to see how they change.

I have had decent luck using Carbon bags that I use for my fish tank (Obviously previously unused). They are cheap enough to buy and if they aren't being used they will last a while if sealed in a baggie. Not sure about using kitty litter as it has its own distinct smell and it is a bit grainy.
