Has anyone else thrown themselves on the new Star Wars VII bandwagon??? I admit I got caught up with all of the enthusiasm for the mega-midnight launch and broke down. I practically pre-ordered each one of the Black series 6 inch figures...a scale I often criticized and never had intention of collecting or playing with.
Are there any more of you out there who have been defending the G.I. Joe 3/4 or 4 inch scale tooth and nail, but have since have warmed up to the idea of a Joe 6 inch action figure toy line...or that it is now...more than ever...inevitable????

I have very little interest in the new Star Wars. I still have Vietnam flashbacks when I think about how God awful stupid the prequels were. If it turns out to be good I will watch it, but I'm not exactly breathless in my anticipation.
Why do you think 6" scale is an inevitability? The cost of materials is just as relevant now as it was in 1977 when the first Star Wars introduced the idea of 3.75 figures. GI Joe caters to adult collectors and pretty much flops whenever it tries to move away from the ARAH formula. More importantly, even Marvel and DC maintain 1:18 scale figure lines alongside their other toys. |

I was very against the 6" line until I bought a 6" Boba Fett. Then I got an Avengers Black Widow cause it was on clearance. I really regret that cause now I have so many 6" figures. :(

Every time I see 6-inch figures, I like them even less.
I am on board with any 3&3/4"ers, though. Or, rather, a 4-year old named Felix is... |

Many years ago, when I "grew up", I sold all of my toys except my GI Joes. That included a massive amount of Star Wars figures. I had every Kenner figure released between 1996 and Episode II. The prequels broke me of my love and so I sold all my Star Wars stuff. When I first saw the Black Series 6", I thought they were beautiful, but didn't want to reopen that Pandora's box. Finally, the first teaser for Ep VII hit, and I was back in. I thought, I'll just buy the cool ones, the best figures or my favorite characters. So I bought the Luke in X-Wing outfit, because that is a stellar figure. Big mistake. Now I have every Black Series figure released so far, and will be continuing with the Ep VII stuff, a movie I am anticipating like I anticipated Ep I.
As far as GI Joe 6", I will not collect them because I still have a massive collection of 3 3/4", much the same way I only collect 6" SW because I have none of the smaller figures left. I can't start over with GI Joe, and I can't justify the expense.

I picked up two each of 3.75" Kylo Ren and Cpt. Phasma about 1 am today.

I think I'm on the same path and it really scares me...if only Hasbro would announce a new 3/4 inch G.I. Joe line for 2016 to distract me.
