Why do people bid on auctions, win and then don't pay.
I have been selling joes on e bay for a few months and have nothing but good experiences. Last week I sold a vintage nes game for $80. The bid was 78$ for 2 days and got outbid at the last sec. By $2. 3 days have passed and no payment. I e mailed and threatened to open a case. He said he lost his job the day after and was trying to scrounge up money. I truly have sympathy for people in tough situations. I checked his history and found he had no payed before. Why do people even bid if they are not going to pay. Was he hoping I would send without payment? Funny thing is the game is valued at $100 so he got a deal. Auction ended sun. Night. Still no payment. I gave him until tomorrow. Any suggestions on how to proceed? Last edited by Rangeviper88; 07-22-2015 at 06:25 PM.. |

Does eBay still offer the "second chance bidder" thing that let's you contact the second highest bidder? If so, use that.
If not, file a complaint with eBay after the appropriate amount of time (they will dictate) and relist.

If his excuse is he lost his job the day after, he didn't have the money anyway. You can block people with excessive no pays on the seller dashboard. He has a certain number of days to pay. When the time comes, open a claim. That way you won't have to pay fees on the sale.
What to do when a buyer doesn't pay

I've had that happen to me as well. I opened a claim and the fees were not charged but it messes up your mojo. I usually sell stuff I am no longer interested in or no longer have room to store it and ALL I want is a smooth transaction. The fact that stupid people exist adds potholes to the road of Ebay.

In my opinion eBay needs to crack down on this.
It seems they are too lenient. When I had non-paying bidders it would not even let me post negative feedback. It only allows positive. That is some BS. The non-payee auction actually sold for more money than when I relisted the item. So in ebay's eyes it was all good but in actuality I lost money.

Good to hear, my moron wouldn't even answer his emails when I tried to resolve the issue. Glad your guy was more responsive.

I have a guy who currently bought items then asked to have the shipping altered. When i said no he then said to cancel the orders. I contacted ebay and am waiting for their response. Winning an auction means you're buying the item to me, especially when i am charged to list an item.
