Guys,
I am new to rebuilding and refurbishing vintage Joes of my childhood and ones bought of Ebay. I am attempting to build the entire collection of vintage pre-VvV era ARAH figures from 1982-1992. Do any of you fine folks know where I can buy O-rings, crotches, arms, legs, heads, weapons, accessories, and file cards? Is there some mystical store that has all this or do you guys just buy figures and rob parts off them to complete one GOOD solid figure? Like for example, I am trying to find a head and a duffel bag for a vintage Hit n Run. I dont want to spend 30-40 on ebay for a whole new figure. Any ideas? Thanks for taking the time to stop by and help me out, Doc

Hey bud. Smalljoes.com has o-rings and stands very cheap. As for body parts, your best bet is to make a list of exactly what you need in the condition you want and post it in the buy/sell/trade forums here and on other G.I.Joe message boards. If you have nothing to trade, be sure to mention that you are only looking to buy. You are right in that people often have to take two not so great figures and mix & match them to create one good one. Sometimes you can find figure lots and parts lots on ebay for decent prices too...you may not need all the parts, but at least you get some extra to trade in the process.
For some figures, such as many of the '90s figs, it's cheaper to just buy a new, complete figure for $5 or so than it is to get all the body parts you need. Hope that helps some! There's no quick and easy way to do it...welcome to having a brand new hobby! Also, if you haven't already found it, yojoe.com's figure archives are indispensible in helping people know what parts they need to complete figures. |

Check out JOEARMORY.COM MAIN PAGE and www.joeparts.com
You could also do a search for parts sites or check the links on some of your favorite websites that deal with action figures. I know that you don't like Ebay, but usually you can get a good deal there for things like O-rings. Small Joe's is also a great place for parts such as O-rings and screws and such. Check out their link in the upper right hand corner of this website.

What about CTG the sponsor of the Tank? Anyone ever deal with them? Their customer service seems good...emailed a few questions and had them answered in just a few hours and not days like some online stores.
Thanks to all who have steered me in the right direction...first project is Scarlett 1982 Straight Arm! Peace, love, and war Doc

the best advice i can give you is to buy lots on ebay, try and find parts lots an weapns lots, this is why i just buy complete figures and pay the extra money because in the long run you will end up dishing out more money on buying it piece by piece. you can find some good deals on ebay, you just have to be patient
