sometimes these programs install into your program files directory.
arrange by modified and see if anything is there that shouldnt be. if so remove it through add/remove programs in the control panel. check your temp folders in C:\Windows empty it also check: C:\Documents and Settings\ \Local Settings in the space will be your user name\computer name not the administrators name open the TEMP folder and empty it. C:\Documents and Settings\Nblay\Local Settings\temporary internet files empty this one as well. this may not solve all the problems but may help. anything u cant delete you should be able to delete in Safe mode.

Hey, the same thing happened to an employee of mine a while ago . I fired her.
But I did fix the problem: download spybot or malwarebytes, install and start windows in SAFE mode, then check for viruses or trojans with the program. Hope it helps.

You'll need to get on another computer and download some of the programs mentioned (like AVG free version) and save it to a USB drive and install in on the infected machine, run the scan and see if it improves. Best of luck to you!

my vote is for AVG i had the same problem before i downloaded the free version. i recommend disabling your current protection before running the avg free becasue they will clash and lock up your computer. good luck.

Sounds like you fell for the fake Antivirus program Antivirus 2009, or you have the Conficker worm as the latest variant installs a fake antivirus. Most likely though its Antivirus 2009.
Don't panic they're easy to fix. I do this removal on customer PCs 2 or 3 times a week. First make sure Windows firewall is turned on by going to the control panel and opening the firewall controls. If its off turn it back on, that will block some malware from phoning home for updates. Next Download and run Microsoft's Malicious Software Removal tool Download details: Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool That should get rid on Conficker and any major viruses and really bad malware. Next run the free trial of Malwarebytes as others have suggested. It should get rid of the Antivirus 2009. Next Download and run Spybot S&D. The home of Spybot-S&D! That should clean up any straggling spyware. Next uninstall the crappy Mcafee or Norton/Symantec your computer probably has on it. They suck. Download and install Avast Free Home edition. Download FREE antivirus software - avast! Home Edition This antivirus is one of the best on the market constantly outperforming Mcafee and Symantec and its free. It has a boot up scanner that will automatically run after you install it that will load before windows. This will kill any memory resident virus's that hide themselves once windows starts. AVG is pretty good to. Used to use it all the time. About a year ago though Avast passed it up in detecting malware and Avast has the boot up scanner so its the better program right now. Another option if you can't get an antivirus to install because your account doesn't have admin privileges is to use Trendmicro's online antivirus scan. Trend Micro HouseCall - Free Online Virus and Spyware Scan - Trend Micro USA Your computer should now be clean. Last edited by sisco; 04-21-2009 at 01:38 PM.. |

If you can get online go here Malwarebytes.org
Very good site and it works wonders. Do the free version and hopefully it can clear up your issues. It does sound like you have some serious issues Objects scanned 180450 Objects infected 7 time elapsed 1 hour 22 minutes 58 seconds...... The funny thing is I don't notice anything wrong. Just decided to download and see.... |
