Like many others, I am on a toy budget too - helps keep the spending in check. Luckily, I only mainly collect TFs and Joes. Thankfully, the Modern Era line is dying down, and I don't have much interest in the upcoming Joe movie line.

Agreed, over the past 6 months or so I stopped buying 2 of everything and I'm just as happy as ever with my collection. The only difference is I have less boxes taking up space I don't have, full of stuff that I never look at.

I'm saving my money at the moment.
My local comic shop as 25 assorted comics for 5 bucks. Thats what I'm doing with some of my extra money and cosmetics of course. I'm still going to army build, but I'm taking this time to clear out a bunch of ARAH stuff. |

Ive been in the same boat for about 3 months.I desided to take some of my tax check and add 10' X 10' to my Joe battle display room, and im glued to the computer on here and ebay, and i go on Joe hunts at least three times a week,So i have had to slow way down.To answer one question in my case its never enough.Put it this way if my house caught fire after kids and my wife and cats were out of the house i would be getting the Joes and she would be throwing them back in.NO SHIT.My wife HATES GI JOE.

I'm slowing down my collecting habits as well. I know there are a lot more important things I could be doing with my money then buying plastic crack. I just gotta prioritize myself, and my money. I know what i'm about to say is blasphemy in a joe forum but.....I'm glad the modern era line is taking a break!! That way I can buy a house so I can have a room to display everything in!

Why do I always get a compulsion to re-arrange my shit late Sunday night when I have to get up and go to work in the morning? Guhhh...
In a way, I'm dreading "The Hobbit." I have a lot of Toybiz "Lord of the Rings" stuff. That's a line I know will get me, unless I am unemployed or an asteroid hits the planet or something. |

I'm addicted to toys too. Its hard to admit it though... I did stop cold turkey in the late 1990s, I had more figures than I knew what to do with! I realized my life was just centered on buying toys. At the time I was collecting Marvel Toybiz, Playmates Star Trek, and 1980s GI JOE. I had over 300 Marvel Toybiz figures, and I couldn't afford the new Marvel Legends line that had just started...
It was hard to stop buying toys at first, but I got over it. I sold alot of my stuff, and just reflected a bit... After some real soul searching, and alot of prayer, I decided my priorities had to change! I didn't start buying more toys until around 2006. Now I only collect GI JOE, mainly 1980s vehicles, and modern era figures. I've tried pretty hard to sell off stuff I don't really want, to make room for the stuff I do want. I have sold at least 15 vintage vehicles, and almost all my vintage JOE and Cobra figures in order to finance the new stuff. It was a tuff decision, but I came to the conclusion, that I own my collection, it dosen't own me! So I decided I would rather have the new figures because they're so mutch better than the originals. But in order to afford the new stuff, alot of my old stuff had to go. Like most collectors, I only have so much money and storage space. Now I concentrate on army building the figures and vehicles I like most, and sell off the ones I can live without. I've never been a "completist" so It doesn't bother me that I don't have EVERYTHING. I feel alot better about my collecting now. I used to buy nearly every Marvel and GI JOE figure made, but that wasn't what I realy wanted in the end... Now I only buy Iron Man and Avengers related Marvel figures, because they're the characters I like the most. Now I still have some stuff I don't want or need in my collection, but I will sell or trade it away... And its always good to have some spare parts if something breaks, or I want to make a custom. I still have to remind myself to streamline my collection, to make room for stuff, and keep the costs down. But I think that I'm alot better at figuring out what I really want, VS. just buying everything that comes out. I hope my thoughts help somedbody out there... GOD BLESS YOU ALL! ...and YO JOE!

My justification: it's my money. I budget for it. It gives me pleasure. There are few things in life that give me true joy anymore. Besides, eating, sleeping, sex and a good shit, there's toys, and that's about it. The older I get, the more responsibilities I have, the more I gravitate to toys to keep me grounded, so I am always reminded of what it was like to be a kid. I know eventually I will stop. When? I don't know. But I keep telling my girlfriend, I treat her well and I buy her stuff all the time. A house? Sure. Kids? Sure. Life insurance? Sure. What do I ask for in return? Nothing except this. Just give me this one thing. So long as I spend wisely and reasonably, it's a small thing to ask for. |

Yeah, my parents (I'm 16, not like 35 living @ home) get pretty pissed off. I really can't see the logic behind their constant complaints about my Joes. I could be buying drugs and shit instead... well... at least then I wouldn't be wasting every cent I get on gas to drive all over the damn state looking for toys.
