With traffic, it's taken me as long as 3 hours one way.

It takes me about 25 minutes to go 15 miles on a good day and about an hour on a crappy day...like yesterday. I thank God that I work at the Amphib base and not on the huge one in Norfolk, cause that puppy's always busy in the mornings.

If I don't take the kids and can catch the bus outside my house then Metro at the pentagon. 40 minutes. If I got to drive in with the kids (HOV thank goodness), drop them off, walk to the Metro an hour. Since I don't have to help with the pick up its about 40 minutes home. I live about 8 miles from my office. But that's DC. If I lived any further out it would 1 and a half during rush hours for 22 miles. I'm sort of lucky.

I did get "stuck in traffic" two nights ago when I took the back way to do a bit of hunting and a train completely stopped for a while across a RR crossing. I still made it home in less time than a normal commute (40min to 1 hour, or worse) in NoVA. |
