Won't quibble with most of your standings, except in the AL Central I don't see the Royals finishing anywhere but 5th.
I will, however, say that the AL Rookie of the Year is Matt Wieters.

The Rockies in 2007 and Rays in 2008 have got me to open my eyes for the next surprising Cinderella or Dark Horse... I like the Giants 'cause all that pitching and I think the Royals will surprise a lot of people because they have a lot of young talent with strong vets, kinda like the Rays. The Royals got Grienke, Hoechaver, Bannister, Gil Meche and Kyle Davies (who I liked in ATL) plus they have Ron Mahay in the pen who is very good. They're going to sneak up on folks in that weak division Last edited by quintonarledge; 02-17-2009 at 03:37 PM.. |

1. Yankees 2. Rays 3. Red Sox 4. Jays 5. O's Yes I'm a Yankee fan, yes I just watched the A-Rod coverage, and man....lol....wow..that was ridiculous. Roger Marris, Bobby Mercer and Thurman Munson are doing CARTWHEELS |

Wieters will be good, but I think he will see less action as he's behind Zaun on the depth chart. Teagarden just has to beat out Saltiamacchia who is struggling in the bigs.

The Rays have real top tier talent...Grienke, Hochevar, Bannister, Meche, Davies...these guys do not compare to Kazmir/Shields/Garza/Price, they just don't. And the positional talent the Royals have is questionable at best; Jose Guillen is terrible, Mike Jacobs is an OBP nightmare....they really just aren't good. I don't think they have near the talent to finish 4th, much less 2nd. If everything goes absolutely right, every pitcher comes through and no injuries...maybe 3rd.

Zaun is the starting catcher until May 15th; the Os want to delay Wieters' service clock (he'll be a super 2 player). I'm certain Wieters sees more playing time than Zaun, and definitely more PA.

Also, I almost forgot that the Royals have Willie Bloomquist which automatically drops them from my #2 slot to finishing 18th out of the possible 5 places in that division. Bloomquist is so sucky that I'm pretty sure that I could get more extra base hits than him. Really. I'm 6'6", 240lbs., but I'm nowhere near close to being able to consistently hit big league pitching, but I think that I could out-produce him simply by luck and accident. |

Ah, Willie Bloomquist. Heart. Grit. Hustle. Energy. Versatility.
And 10 pounds of suck packed into a 3 pound bag.

As a navive of Chicago, I am a die hard Cubs Fan. I would love to see the Cubs finally win the World Series. I do believe they have enough to win the NL Central.
