I got nothing against the Brew-Crew, but I think they were over-achieving in '07 and '08. Losing Sheets and C.C. is a big blow. They got a ton of hitters, but Braden Looper and the seventy-eight year-old Trevor Hoffman isn't really bolstering your staff. I also think that the Ned Yost firing really shook up a lot of those young players.
I think they are sliding down the standings this year and the Reds will kind of suplant them as the young upstarts of the division int he next few years.... but, hey that's just my opinion.... Who do you like in '09 Falcone? But the Brewers are my passion. I think they will place around 2nd, but its a long season and anything could happen. I don't see the Brewers as over-achieving the last few seasons, if anything they under-achieved. Most of the Brewer players are not household names so people don't really know much about them. For those of use who follow the Brewers very closely we know what the are capable of. All these young players were excellent before getting to the majors, the talent is there. As for the pitching, losing CC was a blow, but the Brewers were winning games before he joined on. And Sheets is constantly on the DL and not reliable. The Brewers have a future Ace who sat out almost all of last season with an injury who is an easy replacement for Sheets. |

Isn't Sheets out until July now? I think the Brewers chances for contention fizzled away when that happened a few weeks ago.

I don't following anything outside the NLC as far as transactions and such go so I can't really predict any standings.

Enjoy him now 'cause he's going to be washed up in a couple of seasons if he doesn't put down the Nutty-Buddy and do a sit-up. |

I didn't know Ben Sheets was a free agent. The Brewers signed Looper? Eh, they aren't going anywhere this year. As for Fielder, he's definitely fatter than his dad was at the same age which is not a good sign at all. Losing Kendall was a really big hit, too (the pitcher's loved him). Their pitching will not be as good as last year's for numerous reasons.

Hey quintonarledge,
What's the status on Tim Hudson? I haven't heard anything on him the entire offseason. Did I miss something and he got trade, left in Free Agency, or is he still out due to his injury?

'10 looks to be a pretty solid year too with a projected rotation of Hudson, Lowe, Kamakama, Jurgens and Tommy Hanson. |

Gunslinger gave me crap about being excited Tom Glavine is coming back to the Braves, but I'd rather have Glavine than Jeff Suppan. I was ragging on Willie Bloomquist in an earlier thread for being the worst hitter in the MLB, Jeff Suppan is now at the point where I believe he may be the worst pitcher. The Brewers also have Parra, Bush and Jamey Wright (?!) -- that hardly puts any confidence in me that they are going to be contenders this year.
Also, Price Fielder is fat. Enjoy him now 'cause he's going to be washed up in a couple of seasons if he doesn't put down the Nutty-Buddy and do a sit-up. Last edited by Falcone; 02-19-2009 at 12:11 AM.. |

I think the team that tries hardest and believes in themselves the most will win.

I think my A's have a shot at the AL West with the moves they've made and the fact that the Angels lost Tex and K-Rod without really adding much. It'll be interesting to see how Holliday does.
And if you guys are looking for a place to discuss baseball, you should check out the forum in my sig (just click it to go to the homepage). It's not an A's site; it's a baseball site. We've got team forums, general baseball forums, sim leagues, and other stuff as well. It formed out of another site when it shut down and we've been online since April 2005 with close to 1200 users. The sister site is NFL themed: The NFL Forums - Powered by vBulletin
