I would die a happy man If I never had to go though "Joe in basket embarrasment" again. Check out teenagers always asking too many questions you don't want to hear. "oooo you a collector or somethin?" "Is this for you're son?" Yeah it's for my son, just give me the reciept, haha.
Gets old.

You know, I try to not think about it when I'm buying a cart full o' figures at the local Target or where ever. "Need a gift receipt?" is my favorite question. Like they don't see me regularly enough to get the hint. I have given up being embarrassed by teen dept. store workers because I make more money than them.

Alright… I’ll sign on. I was always very popular and active in high school. I was the class clown and had friends from all parts from every clicks. When I became close with people that’s when I would acquire there joe collections. This was before ebay so I got most of my toys from friends, even given to me or sold for some nominal fee.
I went to college, joined a frat, did improve comedy and was very active in campus activities and student government as well. Met another toy fan, so we started doing runs to retail stores and toys r us every Saturday. I spent a lot of time hiding toys under my bed from my frat brothers and friends. My big drunken mouth would get me in trouble a lot though. Someone would drunkenly bring up a “do you remember this “toy” or “cartoon” and I’d just become fucking Wikipedia subject. Eventually my love of joe, star wars, transformers and he-man toys was all uncovered. After 4 years you just run out of room under the bed. I spent 3 years after college doing stand up (which I still hate telling people because they expect me to be entertainment for the night and work the room) and doing odd jobs to supplement my income. I’ve performed with some pretty big names and did openers on a few small tours. Had a great nerd off with Patton Oswald one night over whiskey at a club in Michigan. One of the best nights of my life. My stand up brought me out west to Seattle because they had a great indie comedy scene. Then eventually to LA where I am now. My act pretty much brought me out of the geek closet. A lot of material was cartoon, comic and toy related. When you bring it up on stage every night it’s hard to go home and hide it. I got out of stand up for a lot of reasons. Mostly that I don’t like traveling, I want a place to go home to at night. I hated living out of hotels, douche club owners, other comedians demons and shitty pay. I took a job a year ago with FremantleMedia (They make American Idol, Price is Right, America’s Got Talent and about 2000 other shows worldwide. They’re the largest producer of television in the world) I work in their venture capital project, Atomic Wedgie were I produce, write and manage short form viral comedy properties. Using my comedic chops and serving the greater nerd world I’ve come full circle. That’s me… YouTube - atomicwedgietv's Channel If I’m going to type all this, I’m going to plug the site.

Ok lets see,
I am 37 years old a part time Nursing student and a full time Instructor for the MR/DD population. I am in a loving relationship but have no kids. I have collected Joe's since 1983. My friends don't know and my partner doesn't care as long as I stick to the budget of 200.00 a month. I wrote a book and have done other such things. Oh and I am a very happy person You can see a pic in my profile.

When I buy toys I always make sure to throw tampons in my cart to draw the cashiers attention away from the toys.

I'm new to this too! Just joined. Just turned 29, married, have 3 cat children (that like to knock over my Joes all posed on my desk..urgh). My school growing up was really small so we all knew each other and felt close.. be it jocks or nerds. I have always been something inbetween-- hanging out with both, do computer art/games for a living, love football, and always take the time to send care packages to our troops oversees from time to time, even if i disagree with past political decisions. And, I agree, lets give a big hoorah to moms who seem to always have made an effort to surprise us with a cool 80's packaged quick-kick, even if its the 2nd one you got from her but she didnt know any better.

I heard about this website at a NY toy show and I like it.
1. I hold a very high political position where I am in the public's eye everyday. 2. I have a family, including wife and three kids. 3. I have a seperate apartment (1200 square feet) two towns away from my primary home. My entire apartment is set up for Joes and cobra displays. Over 5,000 figures (troop builder). No one in my family or friends know of this apartment. HISSTANK is who I share this life with. |
