I think it's ironic, that the one time I go to Walmart and find stuff. I get home and find this article...
Wal-Mart shows signs of self-destructing- MSN Money

"If it’s not on the shelf, I can't buy it,"
Haven't we been saying this all along? |

I love that the 'wal-mart is self-destructing' title quote comes from a retired accountant that was unable to locate some items and says she can always go to target instead. Way to go MSN! The article sounds more like someone had to wait in a long line at check-out: they should try getting out of a toysrus in less than 10minutes.

Lol. I can believe some of that about Walmart. When I worked in Child World esp around the holidays we had people on the floor during the day putting out frieght we hired more for evenings to put out freight and clean up isles.Overnights put out more frieght and had the store presentable by early am opening. We had 18 registers which id say was almost all staffed. I went into Walmart this holiday season and off and on now it looks like a Warzone at all times. Self check out no staff on floors and isles looking like total chaos. The toy section was so messed up and bareit was a sad shocking sight.which sad to say alot of stores seem not to care as long as the spice flows, worm be damned

Pretty much. Any number of us Tankers could have written about going for weeks upon weeks of quite literally empty pegs for some actions figure lines. Had the product been some lame snack or something it probably would have been all over the internet news sites about how the product is suddenly scarce.

From the comments section:
"The Walmarts near me (3 within 15 miles or so) have not refilled their toy section since Christmas..." |

The leaked internal memo from a month ago basically explained the problem.
When the economy is going full steam the "on demand" ordering system works fine, but when there is a slow down in the system it throws everything off from chinese production, to shipping, to ordering effectively, and to getting on store shelves. The "on-time" ordering/shipping model simply has flaws.....

My WM never has water anymore, now that they have refilled the toys the grocery section is actually pretty light.

This is exactly what has been happening at all 4 WMs by me. It actually has been happening for about the last 2 years now.
It’s funny that their own greed may be what puts them out of business. They won’t pay and hire workers to fix an easy problem because that would cut into their profits. I guess that is actually the undoing of a lot of businesses eventually. |
