Hello
I'm new to the forum, so I thought I would very quickly introduce myself. I'm from Britain, but I've been living in Japan for the last 6 years. I used to collect GI Joe figures when I was younger, well that is to say 'Action Force' figures anyway. I started buying up the vintage Action Force/GI Joe toys a few years back to relive my youth, but I wasn't really impressed with the Valor Versus Venom line at that time and so I moved into 12 inch action figures. I've been collecting and kit-bashing them for the last 7 or 8 years. However, when eBay changed their categories around, I kept finding GI Joe figures in my search results. That was when I discovered the 25th and 30th anniversary figures. I came across the Cobra Shock Troopers by accident - Bought a few of them and I was hooked after that. For the last year, I've slowly been getting more and more into the new GI Joe figures. I've now started customising my figures (all be it, with mixed results - I'll post my custom figures in the coming weeks, when I have more time). As I said, I've previously been collecting and customising 12 inch action figures. So for anyone who might be interested in that, I have a website you can check out: www.sites.google.com/site/combatsix I've been really amazed at some of the custom work I've found on this forum, so I hope to learn some tips from you all. I'll also be looking for bits and pieces as well, so I'll post some 'wanted' posts soon. I hope you can help me out. Thanks for reading. |

So I guess that answers my question: "Do they have Joes in Japan?" But I would still like to ask if there are any Tamiya 1:18 Diorama set items there?
Welcome to The Tank!

Welcome to the 'Tank, Jack!
I'm actually gonna be in your neighborhood soon. I'll be in Hamamatsu in about two weeks. Quote:
There's a big electronics store nearby (BIC Camera) that has a modeling section with Tamiya stuff. I didn't even buy anything last time! I really need to on this trip... Last edited by Cobra Terrorist; 02-25-2013 at 10:54 PM.. |

To be honest, GI Joe is not so easy to find out here. There are a few retailers that carry stuff, but they aren't cheap. Back when the ROC movie came out, Toys R Us had the movie figures in, but they didn't sell so well and ended up being reduced to ¥400 (about £2.50 / $4). I wasn't collecting at that point, so I missed out. I'm not sure if some of the shops will sell the new Retaliation figures when the film is released. I will be heading back to the UK soon though anyway. If you are in Japan, the best places to go for toys are BIC Camera and Yodobashi Camera (all over Japan), possibly Joshin - Kids Land (all over Japan), and some smaller shops in Akihabara (Tokyo) or Nipponbashi (Osaka) - They are big 'Otaku' areas (perfect for geeks!)
