We had the Rehoboth Mall here at the beach in slower lower Delaware. When it was built it was awesome. Super Fresh, Peebles, and Roses were the anchor stores and Roses always got the newest toys when they were released and the mall had a lot of variety. Book stores, music stores, food court, clothing stores and cool arcade to hang out at. Then the owner sold the mall to it to someone who wanted to fill the mall with chain stores. He jacked up the rent and drove everyone out. Roses closed and the store was cut in half to form a Rite Aid and a Tuesday Morning. Super Fresh moved out and was replaced by a lame Walmart. Peebles still remains, but the rest of the mall is just an empty shell, with only Radio Shack as the last remaining store to exist from the time when the mall flourished.
In Dover we have the Blue Hen Mall. It was also great mall to go to until the newer Dover Mall was built. Slowly the Blue Hen Mall dried up and is now just home to a bunch of random business offices and hollow space.

The biggest mall in Louisiana is the Cortana Mall in Baton Rouge, and it is virtually empty. I would say a third or less of the stores are occupied. One of the anchors is closed and has been for at least 10 years. another anchor is a Dillard's clearance center which is only open about half the time, and a third anchor is one of those fly by night for profit colleges. Only two of the five anchors are actually full blown retail establishments whith full hours. Thee food court is down to a Chic Fil A.
The few stores that are opened are mostly local businesses that cater to the demographic of the part of town. |

Anyone in the Denver area remember Cinderella City Mall? That was my source of GI Joe comics when I lived there in the late 80's, if I remember right the comic book store was down in Cinder Alley, lol.

Yep, Southwest Plaza was where I got my Joes too.
I lived on the corner of Euclid and Grant street and I used to walk down Broadway to the Target and K-Mart after getting my allowance. $5.00 would buy me a $2.99 figure plus tax ($3.21) and I would either save the change for next week or buy a couple Chicken Littles and a soda at KFC to split with my little sister. If I was lucky my parents would drive us. That was a bit of a walk. |

Yep, the mall I hung out in during junior high and high school is absolute garbage now. They knocked down half the mall, which was actually the BEST part of the mall that had the food court, and it now just has a library, a grocery store, the bank, and a few useless stores. It's pathetic, you can't even call it a mall.
