Well I forgot to mention that there Is a Toys R Us north of me where I found Many Bats and Cobra troopers this Christmas season. I bought about ten Bazooka troopers in one visit and ten BATS in another. I also found Mutt, Croc Master, and the Resolute figures there first. They also had the new comic packs on Black Friday I really got good stuff from there in 2008!

We also had a family owned toy store around here when I was a kid called "Duane's Toy Land". Duane's had Joes on one side Transformers on the other. They also had high end stuff like victorian doll houses, Lionel trains, Models you couldn't get anywhere else, and much more! They had a basement full of older toys on sale, it was like a cave of toy treasures full of stuff that was a year or more out of date. I remember that they had a huge selection of Star Wars toys on sale years after they stopped the line. IT WAS SO COOL.

Yeah I remeber going to Toys r us in the 80s when you could find a ton of Joes and SW. Also, there was a chain called Childrens Palace, maybe somebody already mentioned it. It was like Toys r us, they had them in Indiana when I lived back there. I also remeber the malls had a second toy store besides KB called Circus World. I belive that is where I passed on vintage POTF figures at 99cents ea. Both those stores (Childrens Palace and Circus World) went out of business in the late 80s I guess. Now toy stores suck.

I remember back in 89, TRU used to sell knock offs. I remember buying a Knock off Reflector, broke really easily.

I loved it when stores had out-of-date treasures.
There was a toy outlet in Kent Island, Maryland, that had things like the Cobra Ferret years after it was out of production... and I remember going to the Toys R Us in Salisbury, when someone put out the 1983-era M.M.S. with the original Hawk figure! It must have been sitting in the back and forgotten. That was so exciting! |

i used to fel the same thing going to lionel kiddie city by the airport in philly, we went ther once or twice a year and they always had full shelves, thay went out of busines, tru will follow suit within 10 yrs, i used to work for an independent grocery store that went out of busines shortly after super walmarts and targets with grocery areas moved in, it's simple--the pie is the same size, your piece is just getting smaller
when i was a kid 20+ years ago and joe was in its hayday i would scrimp and save every penny i could find for our weekly trip to the Bel Air, MD Kiddie City. i miss them and gi joe |

TRU...where did it all go wrong?
When they started selling credit cards!!! "would you like to save 10 percent?" the catch. sign up for a credit card and ruin your credit. anyone who works or use to work there know this. i know a few people who work at TRU are so sick and tired getting harassed by management to offer credit cards. thus you have associates that know less about toys and management (& corporate) would care less about giving or helping a customer out, since they are so frakkin focused on offering credit cards.
