Circuit City is liquidating. I believe stores are allowed (except in CA) to stop honoring gift cards if they go into bankruptcy.
If any of you have any CC gift cards or store credits, you should use them ASAP in case they stop honoring them. Circuit City Closing, Spend Your Gift Cards Now | Game | Life from Wired.com Circuit City seeking to liquidate - Jan. 16, 2009

Here's the official word from CC:

* Yes, customers holding Circuit City gift cards may redeem them at full value at our stores during the liquidation sales. Once the stores are closed and the company is out of business, the gift cards will have no value. What payment types will be accepted at the liquidation stores? * Stores in liquidation will accept cash, Circuit City gift cards and most credit cards. Personal checks will not be accepted. All sales are final. When will the liquidation sales begin? * Liquidation sales begin as early as Saturday, January 17, 2009, and will last as long as it takes to sell through the merchandise at each of the stores. We expect the sales to wrap up by the end of March 2009. Note that Circuit City Canada is not affected. |

used to love circuit city...harkening waaay back to when every single cd was $12.95. back in those days, CCity carried a great variety of music, especially movie scores. but, alas, they, like best buy (spit), decided that if the music wasnt 10 minutes new, they wouldnt carry it.
fact is, i really cant say im going to miss them.....but damn shame about the employees though. |

Circuit City Never had a good selection and their customer service was appalling. Granted Best Buy lacks many things, I hate Circuit City and will not miss it one bit.
