Hey, what is the worst job any of you ever had ( or maybe you are still working there?) . I will let you know I worked in a medical waste treatment plant for 3 years in Virginia ( disposing of bodies, blood, body parts, etc). It was pretty bad.
I consider myself lucky now to have a good job ( I am a manager at a factory that makes computers for ovens) that is not stressful and provides me the means to collect Joes. I really am grateful. |

I worked for a telemarketing company for about half a week.
My brother and I got called into the manager's office after orentation because we didn't look at him enough. I worked there one half a shift. ON my way in they bragged about firing 3 people in the pervious shift and promised to fire more in the coming shift. one guy quite because he was calling his hometown and people he knew were cussing at him or hanging up. The time shares we were promoting and claimed to be calling from hadn't even been built yet. plus JP, the manager, openly sexually harrassed an underage girl in front of everyone during oreintation. on my way to my second shift I strongly considered buying some vodka to get through the shift, but decided that any job i had to drink to keep wasn't worth it. |

I have worked and quit a hell of a lot of jobs in my lifetime... But I guess the one that was the worst.. and lasted the shortest was one time when I tried to do the Daily Work/pay thing.. Went in and got assigned to a construction site.
It wasn't the work that I didn't like, it was the way the foreman talked to me.. like I was a complete brainless monkey.. I quit at lunch time.. Just couldn't take the verbal abuse wanted to punch the guy. LOL The Worst WORK I ever did was trying to install an irrigation system while doing landscaping close to a river. There were so many gnats that I looked black because they were all dead and stuck to my sweaty skin... I couldn't even see half the day because they kept getting in my eyes.

Ditto, I did a bit of telemarketing at a computer shop I worked at for an afternoon, I complained about it to my boss, got chewed out but for the rest of the summer (it was only a summer job) they didnt give me that task anymore. Bothering people, and doing something I didnt believe in, and knowing I deserved some of the rudeness I got for telemarketing really got to me.

working for a company tearing down old movie sets. they would come in these huge trucks an we would pull of em off an try to salvage what we could (like molding) or keep the real nice ones to sell back to the studios or to young movie ppl. everything else from the sets ( including there garbage) where thrown into this huge pile of trash, where a bunch of possible illegals would sort through an separate paper ,plastic, porn (yeah i said it... its southern california)into smaller piles so they could be recycled for money i think. i was 17 an i had to work with all these work furlough guys. the worst part was that it was a chain length fence away from the dump so it smelled like "dirty diaper poo poo eggs" all day long. i worked my ass off there for $4.00 an hour. sometimes they made me do dishes there for some guy that lived there on site ( an his place was filthy), an there was no shade, it sucked. i think they got closed down because of all kinds of illegal shit. i only got the job because my moms friend new the owner some how. i worked there one summer. the place was called "resets"
i remember one owner was all coked out an got into this huge fist fight with one of the delivery trucks. The Delivery guy (who was kinda scrawny) knocked the crap out of my okie boss ~ now im a graphic, an manual designer for almost all dvd covers, movie posters,an other premedia related printing things. got my BFA in illustration,an my BA in art history, some day ill post my joe drawings/painting etc

I have a tie between two of my last jobs:
Job#1: Bill collector for a pharmacy. I was not a big enough dick to do the things the company wanted me to do to get the money. So they switched me over to a billing specialist. That was a challenge, but far more rewarding. Job#2: Office manager for a Nursing registry. My employees were the dregs of society. I met more mentally unbalanced individuals there than I have anywhere else. I had 4 of them die on me, two from drug over-doses (though they tested negative at the time of hire), one from alcohol poisoning, and one from 'mysterious circumstances'. Out of all 78 of my nurses there were, maybe, 6 that were decent human beings. The sad thing is, I had met so many very nice nurses before... but since, I've had a very skewed vision of them. I know they're not all like that, but it just made me very cynical toward the profession. Made me quit and go back to school for my design degree... so I'm thankful for that at least. |

The worst job I ever had was a security guard positon I held at this empty apt building that was under construction. It was horrible for several reasons, fist, the jobsite was located in a dangerous area that I was unfamiler with and didn't know anyone,so I got a lot of those"who the f... are you and whyt the f... you on my block kind of looks and stares" then I had to work horrible shifts,It was somthing like, sat 2pm to midnight only to have to work sun 6am to 10pm(yup,a 16 hour shift) mon and tue was 10pm to 6am. Mon and tue nights was when the crackheads and bums typically tried to break in and steal supplys,I had to scare them off. Sat and sun is when the local kids and teens would try to break in and vandalize the place, they didn't scare as easy. Oh yea, forgot to mention how the site was surrounded by a poorly constructed gate made of old doors, thin sheets of plywood and metal gates with huge gaps, basically an invitation for people to tresspass at will. Another thing,I started in the dead of winter and it was basically a frame at that point, they did provide me a little room made of plywood and a space heater(how generous of them) I got paid 6.75 an hour and if I didn't pick up my check on payday they would try to pay me in cash, which would be in an envolope wating for me at the office(which was a few blocks away from the site)and of couse the money was usually short by 20 or 30 bucks,so I had to call my surperviser and threaten him to get the rest of what's owed to me. Forgot to mention the worst part,I had to check in every hour from a phoneline on the site wit the guy who owned the building to make sure I'm still there. This guy was the biggest a..hole I ever met or spoke to. Worst 6 months of my life. I use to go on the roof of the buiding and watch all the planes taking off and landing and use think I got to get the fuck out ny,for some reason that one job represented ny to me
