I love this thread. It's so "Coke or Pepsi?" "Wal-Mart or Target?"
(Coke and Target, btw) I love this from a few pages back: That's like saying, "There's no threat at all of getting an STD from a hooker. So long as you double-bag it, she's wrapped in Saran Wrap, and you're both wearing raincoats backwards." |

I would take up smoking if I wanted to waste money! LOL |

There are no garbage PCs, only garbage users. You guys can't step up and drive the PC-Ferrari at 200mph around hairpin curves like the rest of us manly men, so you stick to your safe Beetle-Mac. LAME!

LOL. I'll use collector terms for comparison. PCs are like Wal-Mart, in every sense. As a brand, as a product, and as an experience.
They're cheaper, you see them everywhere and the masses use them blindly. Their design is lacking, and although mostly all classes seem to go there—the smarter people tire of them quickly and find something better (Target). Macs are like Target. Maybe a little pricier, but they're cleaner, better designed, better customer service, and are an overall better user experience. You probably won't get a virus there, and they have a smaller shopper-base, but their fans are glad for it. Keep the morons at the "other" place and the crowds lower. |

Macs are PCs with parachute pants, you guys are still living in the past. Get with the times, man!
Target sucks as much as Walmart. I've never gotten a virus on my PCs, never. Just don't download stupid shit and you'll be fine. See that STD-infested hooker? Just don't bang her. With a Mac, you can go bang that hood-rat, so I guess that's something. |

If a Mac were a girl, she'd be just some Indie hipster girl who just needs to stop thinking she's a diva |

I try not to get too involved in these "vs" threads (they never end well), but I'd like to chime in with some thoughts as a person who has used Macs and Windows/Linux-based PCs extensively, to counter some of the misguided statements put forward in the few pages of this thread that I've read:
As I'd alluded to before in a previous post, the primary reason the perceived difference between Mac OS-based machines and Windows-based machines persists is because of long-standing social and economic perceptions (accurate or not) about the type of person who would prefer one over the other, not because those differences actually exist between the hardware. In terms of OS functionality, there doesn't seem to be a clear-cut and reliable method of telling which OS is better (and believe me, I've spent the past several years looking for one). It all boils down to user preference. The analogy I like to make when it comes to Mac and Windows proponents arguing over which is better is that it's like a Toyota Matrix/Voltz owner arguing with a Pontiac Vibe owner over which car is better (internally and mechanically, both the Toyota Matrix and Pontiac Vibe are made from the same components, with only the sheet metal covering and cabin appointments being different). What they're actually arguing about is subjective corporate/brand loyalty, but each believes that they're arguing for the empirically superior position. |
