O-kay, I know some of you Tankers sell on E-bay so I'm looking for some advice. I know what I think is right but it never hurts for some 2nd opinions.
My brother sells on E-bay, not for profit since we all know with their and Paypal fees making a profit isn't a chance but at times makes enough to get our Mom's medicine. He sold something this month, a Green Arrow statue, now granted his first mistake was agreeing to sell to Canada when he doesn't normally but the buyer was willing to pay the buy it price which would have bought most of the meds this month. Used UPS shipping and it arrived today. This is where the trouble starts. I don't normally look at his listings which was my mistake. The buyer has legitimate issues since he listed the mini statue with the full size one listed. So I can understand the displeasure in that. It was broke when it arrived but we did warn the buyer this could be an issue BUT UPS will cover that with a claim(which will take up to 4 weeks). Refunding for item not as described isn't a problem as I fully understand the item isn't 12" tall since it was a mini one. Here's my problem. The buyer wants a refund but doesn't want to ship the item back since my brother isn't obligated by Paypal to pay for return shipping(called Paypal to double-check that one). I don't think he should refund for something the buyer isn't happy with unless he gets the item back. Is that dumb of me to think that way or what? |

the buyer should be willing to ship it back in order to get a refund...if in fact the buyer is truly unhappy. Granted that all the problems that the buyer stated are true as well. Sometimes people try to get something for nothing (unfortunatley).
i am pretty sure that Your Brother is not obligated to refund this buyer anything until He gets the item shipped back to Him though.

I wouldn't give the guy a refund until he ships the item back. For one thing, how do you know the thing is really broken? I personally would tell the guy I would refund his money, plus his expenditure on the shipping AFTER the item is returned. I would compensate him for the shipping because it was your brother's mistake in putting the wrong photo of the item on Ebay. Good luck with your issue.

Paypal's policy is that the buyer has to ship the item back with a tracking number. Then the seller refunds the buyer. It's all standard procedure if a dispute is filed through Paypal. Please contact a Paypal representative before filing a dispute.

similar thing happened to me, I started a thread too. Guy claime the motu figure was broke upon receipt, he won the dispute and was required to return the broken item. When he failed to do so, the ruling was actually overturned and I got the money. The money was held during the entire dispute and I couldnt take it out until the end. It sucks but do that and if he doesnt return it then file the claim and come away with extra cash.

Yup, I agree with the rest. Sounds like a scam. Seems like the international orders go that way.

Ditto. Sounds like they're trying to get the item without paying. Not right at all. Contact paypal and file a claim once you know what you've gotta do.
