All the KB Toys even remotely near me closed long ago, but still, it's sad to see the chain go. :( |

Overpriced items, limited stock, cramped retail stores... I could go on. Yes, it sucks that they can't last any longer but maybe my reasons (among others) are what caused this.

This is indeed sad for me. I got my first taste of management experience working for KB Toys.

Ahhh, that sucks. I have a KB Toy Works near me and the Store Manager always hooked me up when the truck was coming. But, at least I do not have to pay $10 for Joes & Star Wars anymore.

I worked at a KB to help pay my rent in graduate school, and while getting up at 5 am to unload the trucks certainly wasn't great, I did get first pick of Lord of the Rings Figs (it was 2001). A shame, but inevitable.

Yeah. It's been years since I've been in one, but it's sad to see it go.

Well, they were always overpriced and never had a great selection, but I'll still miss it...I clearly remember getting the Talking Battle Commanders there back in the day, and annoying the crap out of my parents on the way home with "MoveOut! YoJoe! Let'sParty! RATATATATA!!!" over and over and over. On the plus side, maybe the Joes will be cheap with the liquidation sale.

What's really sad is that kids (including myself) have even less reason to shop at malls. It seems that mall toy stores are all but gone now. Does that leave only TRU as the sole dedicated toy store (I know they also carry kids/baby items at most stores now)?

the CEO said "The move was the result of a “sudden and sharp decline in consumer sales due to macro-economic concerns,” Yeah the economy is down , but I'm sad to say business had been down for years and the prices unless on sale were atrocious. My thoughts and prayers to those who lose jobs. I agree that it is sad, my first Joe was a 1982 straight arm grunt purchased at Circus World (prior to it becoming a KB) |
