Ok so twice this has happened in 2? months.
I ship a package, buy insurance. total of the package was lets say 20 in items and 10 in shipping (plus the 1.50 for insurance and the 19 cents for d/c). i insure for 32 (customer paid the 30 for items and shipping). packages arive jacked up (shipped usps). I file a claim. I am told I get the 20 back but thats it. How is it fair the usps gets off scott free for distroying my items that I paid them to ship? I still have to refund the customer there 30.00 but i have to eat the 12? To me I think insurance should cover shipping fees and the usps needs to be held accountable when they lose/distroy a package. Why should the seller who pays for a service and doesnt get the expected service from the comapny have to take the lose? am i wrong here? Now on to amazon. WTF has happened to them? i like to sell my dvd's and blu rays on there when i watch them. I am not one to hoard movies unless i like them. So usualy ill grab a 3.00 or whatever movie. watch it and if its worth anything on amazon i sell it and usualy clear a buck or two after there fees and shipping is taken out. If its not worth anything on amazon ill throw it in the store for a buck. Well in case you have not sold on amazon in a while here is how it works now. Someone buys it and you are expected to ship it by the next day or you are docked for it. so if a customer buys an item thrusday and you have to work and cant get it in the mail till monday (even if your discription says 2-3 business days processing) amazon dings you some kind of point/percentage thing. Here is the kicker (and this has happened once already to me). you immediatly ship the item (sometimes i can get it same day if they buy it early enough and im heading out twords the post office, i just drop it in the post office box) then amazon sends you an email 2 days later telling you the credit card was fraud and to not ship the item and they take the money out of your amazon account. (also you dont get access to your amazon money till you confirm shipping with a tracking number) so you are out your item and the money and joe rip off gets a free dvd. And if you sell an item and cant ship it (this happened once so far) because it was missing a disc or something and go to cancel it. sure you can refund the customer but amazon still takes all its fees so your out money. even ebay gives you the final value fee back. so yeah insurance sucks and amazon isnt far behind

Solution to it (and you may not like the answer) is to avoid selling on Amazon like the plague
I have never sold there but after hearing this I never will either |

I took my business elsewhere a couple of years ago. Amazon marketplace is a joke as far as selling.
I didn't have to deal with what you dealt with. But I didn't like the whole way they went about the fees and how they give you a shipping voucher, yet its rarely enough to cover shipping. But yeah, I agree with Lody. Last edited by d16punk; 08-18-2012 at 01:50 PM.. |

But yeah, I agree with Lody. an example (and i thought ebay was expensive) one dvd with shipping sold for $4.46 amazon fees cost 2.01 shipping was 2.15 (doesnt include supplies but i use supplies i get for free so only out of pocket is ink from my printer) total out of pocket 4.16 I made a "profit" of .30 cents but it sold, if i put it in the store it may have never sold even at 1.50 plus 2.00 ish for shipping.
