What part of town do you live? I'm in Inman Park now with no issues but when I lived on the east side of Piedmont Park in the early 2000's I was broken into twice and lost a car radio and some clearance Star Wars Lego sets from KBToys (Yeah, long time ago) that were in my trunk. The Lego sets I get but what's a second hand car radio worth these days? From then on I made sure I had a car alarm. It went off once and I chased the guy a few blocks and he denied doing it. He was wearing gloves so I didn't have much more evidence other than my word and his leftover tools.

There is an excellent compromise available concerning debate about a car stereo, wallet, personal property, etc. being worth taking a human life. The solution is less than lethal shotgun ammunition. There are several types available, and you do not have to be in law enforcement to purchase them. They make beanbags, rubber slugs, and rubber buck shot for quite a few different gauges of shotguns. I figure I can give somebody one chance. If they are still feeling tough after that, 6 rounds of 3" magnum 000 buck are only one pump and a trigger pull away.

Im almost 100% positive that in Texas, and possibly a couple other states, you have the right to defend your PROPERTY with deadly force. And on top of that, I think you might even be able to protect your neighbors property, or property in general with deadly force. THATS the way it SHOULD be. If youre a criminal, EFF YOU!
I think we have FAR too many gun laws. I think if 90% of the population were armed and allowed to shoot thieves dead on the spot, crime would PLUMET! If you found someone breaking into your vehicle in the middle of the night, shoot them. Dead on the spot. Then tell the cops that you told him to hold it, the cops were on the way but he turned and made a motion like he had a gun, so you defended yourself because you were in fear of your life. I dont believe in "less than lethal" ammo at all. You dont know what theyre jacked up on, etc. There should be NO less than lethal ammo. If the cops need to shoot someone with a beanbag, just shoot him with lead. Then they cant sue you, collect disability from honest, hard-working tax payers, etc. F them! If youre committing a crime, it should be 100% legal to be shot on site. And on top of that, lets go back to the wild west ways of dealing with horse thieves, etc., and just hang them on the spot. Armed gunman walks into a store and opens fire, he should NOT be able to walk out. Its a waste of time and money. |

Fact is, open carry states have lower crime rates than places like DC (where there was an outright ban on handguns) and Illinois. Maine has open carry and a HUGE population of Mainers own guns in general. Ive heard there are something like 6 guns for every person here. Crime is almost non-existant in Maine, even small crime in our larger cities. You dont need to test any "theories" I might have, just look around at actual stats. The majority of crime happens in liberal areas where gun control is strict and people cant legally defend themselves. Its a no-brainer that crime would be high in those areas because only criminals would be packing heat since they dont care about the law anyway. Giving a law abiding citizen a gun doesnt turn them into a criminal, contrary to popular liberal belief.
