I'm going to go with a personal event and a random musing.
First I'd go back in time and tell myself not to piss all the money I was making as a bartender away on bar tabs and gambling. Then once I was done kicking my own ass I'd head back and tell my parents to invest in Intel when it was a start-up company. I'd like to say that I would go back and change some world-wide event, but in honesty, I wouldn't even know how. How does one person stop 9/11 without being the crackpot standing on the corner with a sign screaming at the top of his lungs, how would one person warn the Navy about impending disaster at Pearl Harbor. Sure you could tell them that you were from the future and that you knew exactly how things were going to unfold - and most likely that would get you a straight jacket and a trip to the rubber room. I think it's easy to say, I'd go back and kill Hilter before he murdered millions of people, but really, I couldn't even imagine what might take his place - always potentially something way worse. I suppose I could take the formula for certain vaccinations back into time. But with my lucky my curing Small Pox years earlier we'd all be dying of a super-virus right now with no known cure. I don't believe in pre-determined destiny, but I do know that on occasion bad things needs to happen, and some other things, no matter how much I would like to change it, are beyond my control. |

I would go back in time to a point when some friends and i were mugged at knife point, and instead of hesitating, i would have jumped the guy that stuck my friend. I regret the hesitation almost everyday. |

I think if I could change something in the past it would be me...I have a feeling changing historical events is a bit impossible. Let me explain that a bit...lets say I was able to stop say 9/11 from happening. I doubt that would stop terrorists from trying something else so while I might have avoided one thing, it just gives birth to another.
So I'd go with something personal...I'd be a bit more aggresive in some of the things I've done in my life. |

All sorts of things popped in my head when I read the premise of this thread: JFK, saving my Joes/Star Wars from the trash, but if there's one thing I'd truly like to change, it would be to go back and save my sister before she went off a bridge and into the frozen lake below. It's been 17 years now, I don't know if it was the weather, or on purpose. I hadn't seen her since I was three and if I have one regret it's that.
When I was a kid I was always thinking I would go back and save my brothers and sister when I grew up. I was 21 when I lost her and I never even got the chance to do what I'd promised to. Give me a time machine and that's just what I'd do. Fuck the butterfly effect, or the space time continuum. The world would be a better place if she were still in it.

Hmm, nothing earth-shattering, but I'd go back and prevent myself from totally f**king up a great relationship I had with this cool girl named Kristen...

Ok I got it.
I would go back and try my hardest for the sequel that never was, but should've been, to be made. Encino Man 2.

I'd go back and stop Edith Keeler from getting run over by a speeding model-T. You wouldn't think a top speed of 12 miles an hour would kill you instantly, but I'm here to tell you it will. Love of my life, that woman. I'd have settled down with her, instead of looking for solace in so many other women of so many shapes, sizes and species. To HECK with humanity's future. I also probably wouldn't have gotten space herpies from that tribble.
