equifax is the shit. I pay $28 a month and it covers me and my wife. Full access to my equifax credit report at any time, and a free credit report from all 3 major creditors. $200,000 in insurance for identity theft and a bunch of other stuff. Its a great service. There was some weird shit on my credit report, and they had everything fixed within a week.

Ok, I have a huge gripe about credit stuff as well.
I can't believe how much interest banks charge in the US!!! I use my wife's debit card sometimes, and when something goes wrong and a payment gets made before a paycheck arrives, there is a HUGE overdraft fee of $35 PER transaction!!! It's a total rip-off and I can't believe or understand how banks get away with it... Here in the Netherlands if I overdraft, I only have to pay 2% over the entire amount for that month's overdraft... Say I overdraft 100 euro's that's 2 euro's I pay the bank. That is very reasonable!!! A bank should be your friend imo, not some thug who steals a huge amount of money per overdraft >_> What's even worse is when they charge you another overdraft charge of $35 because your account didn't have the funds to cover the first $35 overdraft charge! A few weeks ago I checked my account knowing I was really low and I was seeing if I needed to run to my credit union and pull money out of my account there to put into my checking account at another bank. Well that's when I see that yes I went over by a dollar and some change, then was charged $35 but there was another charge for a little over $5 that popped up and I got charged another $35 for that, but I also noticed that there was a third $35 overdraft charge there but nothing other than the 2nd overdraft could have set off the thrid one. So for being over by less than $10 I was charged $105! I'm more pissed about that third $35 charge than anything else. I understand it was my fault for not keeping up with my funds, but being charged for not having money and then getting charged for not having the money to cover the charge for not having money is freaking insane. |

The bank i had charged me $50 + a % of the overdraft and a returned check fee. I think all in all it came to $175. Last edited by HissCommander; 10-30-2008 at 12:18 AM.. |

I went to take a client out for lunch last week, and my P card that work issued me, Was DECLINED!!! it is a work issued purchase card..I just put it on MY card and apologized...
When I got back to my office, I sent an email to corporate, to find out WHY IN THE F@$# my card was DENIED with a customer and to bitch a little... I was told ALL company P cards are terminated until a NEW credit company is found. This is a LARGE company. North americas LARGEST supplier of building materials. an Email was sent out to everyone but I wilkl NOT copy and paste it here but it plainly said, " The previous Credit Company we used no longer has the CREDIT ASSETS to accomodate our needs, and therfore all cards were terminated and new ones will be issued as soon as ANOTHER COMPANY is found... WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? I talk to my boss who is a regional guy for the Northeast, and he broke it down...The Credit card company (sorry im not mentioning names here) That we used, IT no longer has the capitol to go against any new increases of credit. Were talking about The largest lumber company in North america, and one of the more prominent credit companys out there that you WOULD NOT THINK HAS PROBLEMS, just lost one of its largest accounts, and it sounds like there is no way were using them again. Soooo shit rolls down hill, the credit companys are closing ALL cards that havent been used, THEY ARE LOWERING MAX LIMITS on people with GOOD credit, All this just to keep afloat and get ALL of their credit assets liqiud and moving again. If you had a $500 credit card that was not being used, and say a Thousand people were just like you, that credit company will close out all those accounts, to ba able to open up new accounts and give higher limits to people who are paying interest. Even if you never used that $500 card, that $500 STILL goes against the credit companys TOTAL AVAILABLE CREDIT, based on what the company is worth with its assets and income. This "credit Crunch" is just a LOSS of all the "free" cre3dit companys were allowed at, and were simply back to how it was in the eightys. Until this gets Funded, fixxed balied out..what ever you wanna call it, we will have TIGHTER credit requirments, and Banks will start to require 10% down on home mortgages.. These are very trying time for our major companys right now, My company, ford, GM..ALL of em will be feelin this for YEARS...

I wish I had never gotten messed up with credit cards in college. Up to this point I have been paying everything on time and have a great credit score, but it is getting to the point that I might have to start bailing on my CC debt. It is my own fault for being financially stupid, and not realizing how deep it was getting. I do know that they will be the last ones to get paid because I am not losing my house or vehicles.

How long have these credit cards not been used? I have a couple of cards that I don't use very often but keep them around for the credit history. One of them I think was unused for about 5 years. So are you guys going longer than that without using them?
Even if you pay off your balance every month, credit card companies are making money off of you because they get something like 3% of the charges you make from the vendors. Granted it's not the 20% that a revolving balance would give them but it's still money in their pockets. |

right now, if you have "extra" credit cards that have no activity for 6 months they may have already been closed to free up credit for that company.
