How do you know me?!!!
Quote:
I think what hasn't been defined here is the stereotype: Lazy 25-40 year old living in the basement of an enabling/overcompensating mom and (step)dad because he has no ambition and no reason to leave when everything is given to him at home. Maybe this guy has some college, but was too lazy/irresponsible to follow through and graduate. Hasn't the common sense to bath regularly, wears the same dated t-shirts and sweat pants/jeans (clean or dirty - "mom, where's my laundry?") for weeks on end and then wonders why girls are completely repulsed by him, his situation. Gets fat on Doritos, Twinkies and (sometimes diet) Pepsi. Spends his days/nights surfing the net, playing video games, watching the extended version of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, blogging with similar guys around the country. Goes to his part time job at Blockbuster, Best Buy, Walmart or Pizza Hut, until he gets fired for oversleeping (again). You get the picture.

Interesting Topic.......
I am 28 now and I moved out of my parents about 10 years ago. I have had my own place pretty much ever since. My Wife and Son also live with me.

Well, I'm stuck with my parents, but I don't live in the basement. I really do want a better job that will enable me to move out one day, but for now I have to be a parasite for the most part. (Well, if I meet Mr. Right and get married before that happens...) Although it does enable me to save for things I really want to do...
(Parasite is jp. slang for a woman about my age that lives with her parents as she would rather have the best things in life over responsibility. However, it's more of a necessity for me. :( )

I'll admit it, I lived in my parents basement till I was age 24. I was in college up to age 24 and only working part time. I couldn't afford to move out before, with only working part time, and if I would have got a full time job, my grades would have went down the toilet.
Now I have a better job and I live in a townhouse with my pregnant fiance. We have a baby girl due in December. Anyone who still lives with there parents has it so good. Milk it while you can. I didn't even know it till I moved out on my own how good I had it. Free cooked meals, laundry done (if my mom was already doing some), no rent, cleaning lady (every other week), garage spot, and more.

I own a 3 bedroom condo with my wife, son, and dog. 1 of the bedrooms is my G. I. Joe room. Can't wait to get out of college and build my house. My G. I. Joe room is going to be massive!

I moved out of my parents home right after I graduated from high school and joined the Army and was gone about 10 years. But I did move back in when I was 29 for a year, before moving out and headed back to Colorado to be closer to my kids.

Would like to think that I buck the stereotype: 33, married, one boy and one more coming next week, athlete, master's degree, own a house, and a great job in NYC....sick obsession with Gi Joe....by far, the most embarrassing secret in my life. Have actually considered building a dummy bookcase that rotates (they do exist for like 10 grand) to hid my Gi Joe room...maybe i do fit the stereotype?
